Sky Texture Change = No CP's (SOLVED)

Post by Null_1138 »

I changed the sky in my map, which was dea1_sky_dome.tga, by taking a texture that I had made separately (and might release) in Paint Shop Pro 7. I copied the texture and pasted corner - to - corner over the current texture, and saved. I munged, and got 2 log errors, one was "Targa type 10 not supported," the other was, "missing bracket in dea1_sky_dome.texture.req." I ignored them, and played. No CP's came up, I couldn't spawn. I looked through and found the dea1_sky_dome.texture.req. This was the the .req at that point:

Which I changed to:

{
I also copied the fresh dea1_sky_dome.tga from the DEA world assets folder.

Munged, and got this:
Hidden/Spoiler:
ERROR[levelpack CTN.req]:Unexpected end of file while searching for closing bracket.
File : munged\pc\dea1_sky_dome.texture.req(1)...

ucft <--
{

ERROR[levelpack CTN.req]:Unexpected end of file while searching for closing bracket.
File : munged\pc\dea1_sky_dome.texture.req(1)...

So now VMunge is taunting me. What do I do?

EDIT: I got rid of the bracket, changed the texture again, and, behold, one too many commas later, it works. And its beautiful. Please lock, thank you.

Which would be great except you never learned why you had the error in the first place.

If you took the time to search GT for your error (which you always should), you would find a myriad of threads like this one:
http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... &sk=t&sd=a

All will tell you that the "Targa type 10" error mean that you didn't save your texture with RLE compression off. When you resaved it, you did and consequently fixed the error.

You should rarely need to mess around with .req files if you see an error that references them.

Ah, I see. I thought that had something to do with RLE, but I didn't know PSP7 had a setting for it. Thanks for the tips, Mav!
