Cloth won't detect the collisions [Solved]

Post by icemember »

Hi, I been puzzled by this for 2 days now. My cloths wont find the collisions and keep going through the soldiers body, legs. Or my collisions are just not working.

Heres what I did,

1) Enveloped the soldier along with the cape.
2) Created spheres only using Translate tool from the Transform menu to move them in place. Then scaling the spheres using the pop-up page. Not rotation was involed.

3) Renamed them c_bone_rl, c_bone_ll so on.
4)Then drop the shperes in to the correct parent bones
5)Unselected everything then selected the kama only.
6)Went to Create Cloth. Click on Select Collision Objects. Left clicked all spheres then Then Right clicked
7) Then click on Select Fixed points, only choose the top points of the kama. Then Right clicked.
8) Last exported only to find these results over and over.

Even tried resizing the spheres. I have to be doing something wrong or not doing something.

Hope this is not a problem. Some of the cape is going inside the trooper model

Try a naming convention using only 1 underscore and see if it helps, like c_bonerl, c_bonell etc.

1) Enveloped the soldier along with the cape.

Do you mean you treated as part of the soldier?

You should envelope the cloth mesh and the soldier mesh separately.

For the kama envelope it to bone_pelvis as indicated in Ace's tut in the Faq

Acemastermind - Tried the naming convention. Used c_bonerl etc. Didnt work.
Fragme - Enveloped the kama and soldier separately. Kama enveloped to the pelvis. Didnt Work.

I did hide the collisions. Does that matter?

Clean out previous versions of your files before trying the new ones, for good measure.
You aren't freezing the collision primitives are you?

No, I'm not freezing the collision primitives. Was told they would lose there primitives if frozen.

Yes, this is a good idea too start again this time with the mentioned above.

EDIT
Yup. I finally figured it out lol. WOW, that took forever. Well technically I was doing it right. The tutorial on here (Gametoast) is correct. It will just seem like the collisions are not working if you use too small collisions or keep them directly in the middle (null wise).

As I paid more and more attension to my cape and the sizes of the collisions. I realized they were working. Just have to position the Col.Ps right till the cape reacts the way you want it. As I went to big col.ps to huge to extreamly huge, I notice my cape acting diffrent each time. Which then I gave it one final test. My cape had been working all along.

I saw no reason to place Col.ps on the torso or anywhere else since it be a kama on the waist.

Collision Primitive names use.
