Randomized hostility

Post by destos »

ok so, im making a tatooine map for my machinima idea i have, and i wanted to add a local side to basically be the local civillians who just randomly walk around and such, so i was going to add several local sides, one jawa, one thugs, and one just plain human population. and i was wondering if i could randomly at certain timed intervals make the locals hostile towards eachother via lua coding, if possible how would i do this?

I'm not a coder, but I do have an idea on how you could set this up:
Make 2 civilian sides. (team 3+4) They'd all be the same, so you won't really notice the difference. Via Lua, make it so that teams 3+4 are friendly towards all sides in the beginning, and then (when triggered by a timer) grow hostile to each other (3+4). If you'd want the fighting to appear more random, you could also ad an identical team 5. If you'd want, you can make them hostile towards team 1 or 2 too.
Of course, you could also make a civilian team with Jawa's (arc casters), one with pedestrians (melee) and one with bounty hunters(blasters).

EDIT:
I just remembered there was a FFA mode in the Convo Pack. If you could set that to only affect you civilian side, it would mount total chaos between the civilian team! I do remember being said that it was pretty buggy though...

since it is also a movie map, i really only want 3 local sides, so that the map doesnt become over laggy and the video taken from the game looks bad and choppy, but if there is now other way to do it other than have it at a set timer.

and i also changed my mind, i realized that if they attacked eachother that the movies own sound effects might not even come up if i use them.

so this topic can be locked, sry about that.

if it's a movie map (i'm guessing a movie map is one where you videotape the action on it) then why don't you just take the shots that you need with the civilians being normal then switch it to them being hostile in the .lua remunge and then take more footage and splice it together in a editing program. if this is not what a movie map is then completely disregard everything said above

It is a movie-map, destos is planning on making a machinima.

(by-the-way, if you need any other help with that (voices, music, sounds) I'd be very interested to help, if you want that)
