Room darkness
I am trying to get certain rooms to be darker than other rooms but I cant get it to work quite right. I tried placing a shadowregion but that only makes the player darken and the room is still the same brightness. How would I get the room to darken as well?

Re: room darkness
add a omni light that is dark. however bf2 is much better at making things lighter than darker i suggest making a very dark envrionment or ambient light (ie directional or the 2 ambients on the top right) and then using white or light gray lights to lighten up rooms. this i think will produce a better effect but you can use omni to make a darker area

Re: room darkness
That didnt work for me, maybe it works on terrain, but the omni set to black seems = to not having a light at all. Could it be that its a custom model without shadow geometry or whatever?

I.E. Tantive IV tech room. I have yet to find a solution for that, so I'll watch this thread.YaNkFaN wrote:not sure i know some models are very unresponsive to light while others are very much so

And what good does that do towards objects in an interior style map?bobfinkl wrote:Try doing a terrain burn.

Re: Room darkness
some objects are vertex-lighted, some tantive-models for example, with vertex-light you can make polys lighter or darker
you should actually be able to remove that effect vie the mesh.option file (remove the -vertexlighting line) but i think its obsolete since for me vertexlighting worked without this line, but if you export these interiors witht he pandemic tool you can lighetn/darken them as you want

Re: Room darkness
So if I export with the pandemic tool placing a shadow region would darken the room like I wanted? Cause my map really depends on lighting a lot and shadows so will I have to get the free trial to export my stuff?

Re: Room darkness
its not a shadowregion, but you can define the darknes/brightness of every vertex if you want
actually you dont need to edit flags for this, maybe resharpshooters meshtool export vertexlighting
