well if you assign it the bullet texture, and you just make the laser length really small...

Try putting this in the weapon's Ord file:

LaserTexture		= "bullet_texture_name"
LaserGlowColor			= "255 255 255 150"
LightColor          		= ""
LaserLength         = "1.0"
