AI Heroes in Instant Action (uses "Hero" system)

Hey Wadi! I'm going to have to thank you! :D

I started looking into your suggestion about the 1-on-1 duels and found a rather big, but not very noticable, bug. Those types of bugs are the worst kind since they can sit there for a long time without ever being discovered.

Well I fixed it (extra testing will verify this), and now as a sort of "side-effect" (it only took a few extra lines of script) the bot count is now correctly managed. If 16 bots were selected, now 16 bots are used (including the hero). The hero is now "reserved" a spot in the roster so if you set a bot count of one (1) the heroes are the only bots on the map. If the hero is taken by the human player, no bots are spawned for that team. Now the 1-on-1 duel is possible.


I would like to get away from the "constant" release of versions as I make minor improvements, but if you guys don't mind 'another' version I'll release it with this fix. Or should I just wait and see if anyone finds something else wrong with the "current" version?

Yeah, great indeed.

I'm gonna suggest that you release it sooner than later. Sometimes the updates themselves will have bugs, so, if they're released often, they can be found faster. Oh, and it's more fun. :P

Oh, and before you ask... Unless I'm missing something, the only way to effectively stop the AI heroes from entering vehicles is to disallow the unit class itself from entering them (thus making it so human players can't get into them either). Just booting the AI out of a vehicle after entry doesn't do much because they just keep trying to get back into it and end up going nowhere.

As was said above, this doesn't affect modded maps at all (for good or bad). The hero script has to be run by the map lua itself, so the only way I know of to get it working on the Conversion Pack would be to get Teancum to add it in himself. Sorry.

If this is LUA, can you make a copy and pasteable version so people can use this in there mod maps?

Terrific! It's just like on the PSP. I was confused by how only the PSP had the AI use their heroes. One of those screenshots suggests that the AI on the player's team will even use the hero. Even better! Even the PSP couldn't do that. I've always wanted to just fight alongside the hero, rather than being forced to play as the hero.
