Asymmetrical Scopes?

Post by Fluffy_the_ic »

Now, I know that my mod tools don't work, but now that I have projects I'm working on with others, I'm actually being serious about my modeling and skinning, and I had an idea for a scope, but it wouldn't work unless you could make a scope asymmetrical. Would this be possible? If, so, how?

When you say scope, there are two things you could mean. One is the actual scope, as in part of the weapon model, that you can of course make asymmetrical, as you make the model. Since I assume you already knew that, you probably meant the scope texture that appears when you zoom in with a weapon. Looking at the scope textures shows that they are only a quarter of a scope, and thus unable to be made asymmetrical as long as the textures are referenced with ScopeTexture.

So are you saying that if referenced with a different scope texture, it could be made asymmetrical?

ScopeTexture is an ODF parameter. I was saying that if you could somehow find a way to create a zoomed in scope without using this line, then you might be able to do what you want. A quick look through Psych0fred's ODF parameters reveled nothing. I'm not saying that ScopeTexture is the thing that makes it necessary for the scope's texture to be a quarter, but I'm saying that it is part of the process that does, so if you could find a way around the process, what you want could be possible.

All this to say that, for all intents and purposes, what you want is not possible.

So it's not possible at all, or just yet?

As far as we know, the quarter scope texture thing is hardcoded. Taivyx had a similar question a while ago here:

Rep suggested changing the camera angle so it lines up with the rifle. Its probably the best you can do unless someone makes some breakthrough discovery with the HUD.

Oh. Lol. That was ghost's solution adjusting the camera angle. Okay then, I guess this can be locked.
