Competitive maps?
Hello, I was just curious if anyone had a suggestion for any competitive mod maps. I am hosting a tournament and I wanted to add a custom map pack to the tournament since the stock maps have became boring for the most part. Most of the maps I found myself are more giant 32 bot maps which isn't what i'm looking for. The matches will be 4v4 or 5v5 so take that into consideration when you suggest something
Thanks, BoMbeR.

Re: Competitive maps?
What kind of game mode are you playing? Is this 4v4 with bots or without? Are you looking for open-field type maps or novelty-small maps?
There are dozens of mod maps ranging from excellent to good for small battles, but a little clarity on your goal can help us sort it out for you.

Re: Competitive maps?
We are doing a mixture of CTF and Conquest. I like both open-field and small maps. I will give a list of things competitive players like in maps. We also do not play with bots or vehicles.
1: Balance - The map obvious has to be balanced for both sides, a example is Death Star, it's typically favored for Empire/CIS due to the stair case leading up to the conference room or Hoth CTF with all the auto turrets that rebels have.
2. Height - We like maps such as Utapau and Rhen Var: Citadel that have a lot of height added to them, the only really fun stock flat map is Mos Eisley
3. Cover - We like to play maps that have a lot of cover. The best example is Coruscant. It's like the best map ever made for competitive play. It's the perfect size, has cover, is very strategic for both CTF and Conquest and has good height variations.
4. Size - We don't typically mind small maps like Tantive or bigger maps. Just as long as they're not to big like Kashyyyk, Hoth Conquest or Geonosis.
We don't need like a map with ALL these features built into one. Just like 2-3 decent maps with similar aspects to the stock maps as I have explained what we like.

Re: Competitive maps?
Just keeping it simple, here are a few I'd recommend based on your preferences (broadly speaking, "things competitive players like" is meaningless - it's obvious what makes maps competitive in a general sense, but that doesn't really narrow down the field):
I'm making the assumption that you'd rather not play with modified sides, and you'd rather not play on non-stock modes (i.e. deathmatch). If you're okay with either of those, there are a few other suggestions. The below three are some of the best of the "plain vanilla" category.
Geonosis: Frieght Dock (http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.co ... ock;120075)
Muunilinst: Rooftops (http://www.gamefront.com/files/Muunilin ... einfo.html)
Palpatine's Office (http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.co ... ice;116131)

Re: Competitive maps?
I really like Palpatine's Office, it's a nice map. I know it's frowned upon to edit other peoples work but I found some mod maps that are REALLY good but a couple of them have balance problems which I plan to fix.
Maps I like:
Palpatine's Office - Very small map that has no balance issues and can be very strategic for 2 flag CTF.
Bothawui - Good map, medium size map with a lot of cover. Only issue is that it has a balance problem where one team starts with more CP's. Main issue is that the map is blank so it's hard to determine where you are going. (Already fixed the CP issue by making one of the CP's neutral)

Flooded Oil Refinery - Interesting concept, sort of like Kamino but done correctly. Would be better for larger matches like 6v6 or 7v7.

Dyuxx: Sunken Hallow - Basically like a new version of Dagobah but smaller with different flag running routes.

Polus: Port District - Not a bad map at all. Very good CTF map only issue is that one team starts with more CP's.
