Well, with the awards being tomorrow, I might as well make this thread now.

It's been a year since our hopes for a Battlefront 3 were crushed by something we never saw coming, a year since Reach made its first appearance, a year since I started flipping out in an Xfire chatroom at how boring and/or how poorly chosen those celebrity guests were, and hopefully this year we'll at least see some more cool new things in the announcements section.

So who do you hope wins an award? What do you hope makes its first ever appearance? Feel free to talk about it here.

Red Dead Redemption, Black Ops, and Reach better dominate the awards.

I want SWBF3, GTAV, and the new star wars game announced.

The awards this year are gonna suck. Seriously, a panel of judges? Everything is just going to go to whatever got the highest overall ratings, watch. So If ME2 was nominated, then ME2 wins. However ME2 should win everything it was nominated for except best Xbox game (Reach) and best score (Reach) anyways. Plus, there are only 2 GotY nominees that might even remotely deserve it, ME2, which is a [Diet Dr. Pepper]ing masterpiece, and then RDR.

Hehe. That was pretty awesome, I gotta say.

I'll be happy if anything Star Wars is announced, and if Reach wins a few awards.

ME2 is one of my least favorite games that was nominated...

Honestly I'm more looking forward to who wins the indie awards. I enjoy most XBLA games more than on-disc titles anymore. And as epic as a SWBF3 announcement would be, I have zero hope of seeing one. If Lucasarts has anything it'll be for some sub-franchise that'll fail bigtime.

My guess is that if LA unveils ANYTHING, it'll be that unnamed Star Wars Kinect game they gave us a quick alpha-stage glance of at E3.

Black Ops & Halo Reach. Two of the best games I've ever played.

I hope to see SWBF3 finally get released or at least LucasArts saying they're developing it.

Monday Night Combat (I haven't played it but from what I've seen, and the great community/developer communication, I want to support this game) and Minecraft for indie.

War for Cybertron > Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions for a liscenced game award, although either one would be fine.

Reach or SMG2 for Music

Medal of Honor for Sound

SMG2 for GOTY. It's appaling to me how one of the highest rates games of all time is being excluded from 90% of the lists I see.

A nomination for Heavy Rain in something would be great too.

Best Unintentional Humor All jokes aside it would be nice to see it for best cutscenes or something. It would have worked better as a movie but that's just my opinion.

Fixed with my own predictions. Of course, a lot of these are less of predictions and more of what I'd want, but those ones are mostly the ones that are really, really close choices.

I am hopeing for BF3, help me VGA, your my only hope.

Halo and CoD are overrated to the point I'm actively hoping they won't get many awards. As for game announcements, I wouldn't mind seeing something on Half-Life 2: Episode 3, but there's most likely zero chance of that happening.

I'm kind of wishing FIFA '11 would win the best team sports game, but seeing how soccer isn't popular here, it's just not going to happen.

I hope Red Dead: Redemption wins game of the year.

These happened yesterday, right? Then what are we discussing now, general video game of the year and such?


As for actual games, there hasn't been many good games that have been released this year. Sure, there's been games like Reach, Galaxy 2, Red Dead, Black Ops, etc. but that's mostly it, and to be honest I've only played Black Ops out of those. (I'm not counting Minecraft as GOTY or anything, because it technically hasn't even been released.)

Next year, however, we've got a bunch of pretty good stuff coming out in the Spring/Summer (Portal 2, Duke Nukem, Crysis 2, etc.) and that's just for the first 5 or so months. I'm really excited for next year just for the games that have been announced already, and think that there will be a lot more good games that have yet to be announced for next year.

So Bioware just beat out Bungie at studio. I'm predicting ME2 is gonna take home just about everything. And it deserves it.
