UVs messed up with on symmetrized side [Solved]

How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.

UVs messed up with on symmetrized side [Solved]

Post by MileHighGuy »

My UVs on the symmetrized side of my model (made with symmetrize polygons) are a little wonky. The have irregularities that do not match the other side. I froze all transforms before I did the symmetrization. I know this is a known issue, but I can't find a solution to it. Any ideas?

Screenshots? Is it messed up in XSI or ingame? I wasn't aware this was a common problem, where did you learn that? Freezing the Transforms has no effect on UVs, what you want is 'Freeze' or 'Freeze M'. Maybe delete the half giving you problems and try again.

It happens in both. I will try freeze an report back.

EDIT: I think I solved it. It was still happening when I did Freeze M. After looking at the model I think it was because I was triangulating it after symmetrizing it. This added edges differently on both sides. I did some manual edge clean up and it looks better.
