Buffer Overrun

Post by RevanSithLord »

Okay, I'm pretty mad to be honest.

Re-installed BF1. It went smoothly. Not a single problem installing it. Thing is, it was able to work on this computer before.

Lemme give a brief history of this computer.

It has an integrated nVidia 5200 FX graphics card in its motherboard, so the video card (which has the port to connect the monitor) is separate. Well, recently that card fried and I had to replace it with a probably older video card. So now that all works. Well, thing is, I can't play a friggin game without it killing the CPU. I can't update the drivers because it screws everything up, causing me to not be able to start Windows when it starts up. No response on the monitor either, just black. So, yeah, problems all around. I can't do anything. I can't update DirectX, I can't update my graphics card drivers, it's just a mess. I don't know what to do, to be frank. This computer basically is a screw up to sum it all up.

If anyone has any idea on how to fix any of this, that'd be great. A solution that doesn't cost me getting rid of this as well as spending money that could go to better things.

I can't play BF1. I haven't tried BF2 yet, but I will, and I take it I will get the same error. Yes, I am pretty upset. This is where I did my modding and everything! I guess that's a memory now. The way it's looking anyways. :(

So, technically I still HAVE the 5200 installed, it's just..... I don't know. This is stupid. Buffer Overrun. Runtime Library crap I don't understand, and I am usually great with computers, but..... there's just a limit of knowledge I have about understanding techno-babble.

Edit: Double checking DirectX to be sure.

Hmm, you're unable to update anything, but it worked before? I'd suggest a system rollback to when it last worked and see if that does it.
