Firefox Takes Forever to Startup

Post by Nova Hawk »

I know I've been making a lot of topics in this section recently, but I do need help with this. I've had this problem for quite a while now and whenever I click on Firefox it takes from 30sec-1min to start up. I dunno how to fix this.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, my old XP takes at least a minute and a half to start Firefox.

There's really nothing you can do except clear out some space on it, maybe defrag or something. Still, that only shaves off 30 seconds or so.

Yeah I don't think much can be done about that. Once you do start though, barring stupid background apps loading at just the right moment, it runs much faster than "quick starting" browsers like Chrome.

I've tried clearing some of my addons that weren't compatible with Firefox 3 but it still takes long to startup and it's the only computer that does it. On my XP it starts up like 5secs after I click on it.

Have you cleaned and ran a defrag on your computer lately?

My computer > right click your windows HD (most the time C:) click properties > in the "tools" tab click "Defragment Now..." (will take a while, dont run any programs) and clean is in the "General" tab under the big pie.
