Playermodel Animation Setbacks

Post by Master_Ben »

So I'm using Psychofred's Unit Template Beta to create a new playermodel animation following the saber animation tut in the XSI tutorial section. I placed all the objects and bones in their appropriate paths, including (this is necessary for later explanation,) the hand bones. After this was done, I hid and made unselectable all layers besides the bone layer, and was pleased to see the bones clearly visible on my screen. However, upon further examination, I saw a difference from the reference pic provided by Gogie. No hand:

Why is this happening?

Also, I decided to continue anyways, just to see what I could do before posting here. I found that whenever I try to set the key, it says "No parameters specified for keying" and doesn't save the key. Why is this? (The key icon isn't green, could this be related?)

One last note: I saw no mention of "grounddummy.hpweapons." in the tutorial. I kept this in the bones layer, is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

you have to unhide the handbones to see them :P
the hp_weapons can be animated too, so keep it in the bonelayer (this is the point the lightsaber or gun is attached to)
you have to be in a translationmode with atleast one object selected to be able to create a keyframe
