XSI Curiosity -reconnecting parts

Post by icemember »

Hi

I wanted too ask, after disconnecting an arm from the torso, how would I go about reconnecting the arm back on too the torso?

Also what if the arm were its very own object, how would I connect it too another object? (Torso object)

It depends on if your arm is a seperate object or a disconnected part of a single object.
If it is a seperate object then you'll need to merge the objects and increase the weld tolerance in the ppg until they reconnect.
If it is a disconnected part then you must weld the disconnected part back to the main part, usually by welding the border edges/points.
Press F1 while in XSI and search the Help files for welding for more info.

If you're working with two separate models, merge the polymeshes to make them the same model. If your model parts are split, select the polygons of one part and align it with the other part.

If you got to a place where you could "disconnect" an arm from a torso in the first place, it's likely you had some unwelded (light blue) edges. If you want, you can always weld the edges back to their corresponding edges on the torso, but it's not necessary (and sometimes not the best option for the weighting of that model).

For optimal re-joining, move your model close, and then get the coordinates of the endpoints for both sections and make the corresponding coordinates identical.
