Re: Battlefront III News
The Crysis engine or Dice's Refractor 2 engine would better fit SWBF3. I never felt like Source code do BIG open world justice like those engines could, particularly Refractor 2.

Me neither, but it made for a good example. lolTeancum wrote:I never felt like Source code do BIG open world justice like those engines could, particularly Refractor 2.
The Crytek engine would be fun, provided they didn't make the system requirements physically painful. lol As for DICE, I think Bad Company's Frostbite engine would be better than the Refractor, though I guess it'd depend on what all they wanted to do. I'm not sure Battlefront really needs destructible environments...

Whatta ya mean? If tools are available for the game that allow custom models, heck yeah we can recreate those maps. And with next-gen abilities, we can make em look even better.Teancum wrote:Yeah, but that could only happen if they used the Zero engine. Supposedly Pandemic ain't doing it, and they own the Zero engine.

What do you think Conquest is on? They don't call it "2.0" but they said it's still the Zero engine, and it's definitely upgraded from BattlefrontII.Raptor522 wrote:Apparently, the Zero engine is good for modding, but they haven't exactly proved it could make a really awesome game. At make a Zero 2.0 engine or something.

Yeah, but we can't convert the maps. I sure as heck ain't trying to redo it all from scratch.squipple wrote:Whatta ya mean? What you mean if we did have a SWBF3 we wouldn't have a SWBF2 Conversion Pack?

Re: Battlefront III News
Exactly. If I have to re-make (vs just converting) every one of those maps I'll be miles from the SWBF3 mod tools, even if they exist.
Well, probably not - but if there's a conversion pack I won't be a part of it, because it was hard enough the first time around, and we only had to convert the maps, not make them from scratch.

I hate to think this myself but In my humbly arrogant opinion, since it has had such massive problems I don't think It'll ever be released.

Pandemic would now have an upgraded editor or more likely a totally new one. Whats the use anyway most everyone here still has SWBF2. But the odds of Pandemic making SWBF3 are very low unless later they pick up the project. Something I just thought of though is what if (and this is if they even make one) they don't release any Mod Tools? Just look at LotRC there is no mod tools for that game and there hasn't even been any word of anything else coming out for the game except for the 1.1 patch that fixes one small issue. Well there's still plenty of time but it has been a couple months since the game came out and there should be at least some announcement of something by now.

Re: Battlefront III News
Well, the Battlefront II Mod Tools weren't released until about a year (?) after the game was released. But whether or not Mod Tools are released is rather irrelevant in my opinion, as we don't even know that the game is coming out yet...

I'm afraid that unless lucasarts has something huge in mind with swbf3 they'll quit looking for a company to make it. How many more company jumps can lucasarts stand? Sooner or later they will give up.

Why don't they ask someone competent... before anyone says anything, I'm not saying Pandemic isn't, I'm just saying, it just doesn't seem like Battlefront III would be the kinda game that no one would wanna make. Are the people at LA the kinda people no one wants to work with or something?
Again, probably my ignorance speaking.

Therefor I win. But it doesn't matter, as this entire page says, if it's made at all, it'll be on a different engine (Thank God).Raptor522 wrote:or something.

Re: Battlefront III News
The SWBF2 Mod Tools were released on February 22, 2006 while the game was released on October 31, 2005. A gap of almost 4 months so I guess Pandemic still has plenty of time to release LotRC Mod Tools. I was just curious if Pandemic is still releasing Mod Tools because not all games have them which again points back to the question of SWBF3 maps and Zero Editor.Blade wrote:Well, the Battlefront II Mod Tools weren't released until about a year (?) after the game was released.

I wouldn't blame ya after the conversion pack-a-thon you just went through (and maybe are still going through)Teancum wrote:Exactly. If I have to re-make (vs just converting) every one of those maps I'll be miles from the SWBF3 mod tools, even if they exist.

Nah, if it did those guys'd really be in trouble. Like jail trouble. My guess is FR had to wipe all that stuff from their servers (besides the engine) when they lost the contract.

I stick with my previous statement. The graphics may've looked better in the video, but there's no way to actually know the gameplay was better. I'd be willing to place bets that the gameplay was exactly the same... just "prettier."

Agree... there's a reason guru started this website, and it's not because BF2 was an ok game.Teancum wrote:Which would have been fine by me.Raptor522 wrote:. . .there's no way to actually know the gameplay was better.
