XSI Crash on startup

Post by Thunderstorm025 »

Hi i downloaded XSI foundations 4.2 from this site and whenever i try to open it i get the following message:

Code: Select all

Runtime Error!

Program: ...age\XSI_4.2_Foundation\Application\bin\nt-x86-p3\XSI.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Since XSI 4.2 is no longer supported by softimage i decided to ask here

anyone got any ideas?

PS i tried installing Xsi 5.0 and the same thing happens.
And if i run 'runonce.bat' i get an error saying that 'This application has failed to start because ilcor10.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem'
But if i try to reinstall it, it tells me to 'insert the disk with data2.cab'

Do you have any fire walls or anti virus programs?
If you do, disconnect from the internet, turn any and all antivirus and firewall programs, now try running it.

Go to control panel and look for an option called something along the lines of 'firewall' and get into that. If you have the same computer that I do then the window that pops up will have three options, General, Exceptions, and Advanced. Click on Exceptions and Add Program. Then select the XSI .exe and it will probably be fixed.

The title at the top of the window says 'Microsoft visual c++ runtime library' if that helps at all

Wait, so is your anti virus store bought (like Norton Antivirus) or did it come with the computer (yes there is a difference)

OK, go to Control Panel, and look for Security Center or something like that. One of the options will say Virus Protection. Turn that off and then try running XSI

It depends on your operating system. If have XP, then this is your lucky day 'cause I have XP. You'll see the three buttons and each one will have a light. Click on the virus protections light and it should change colors. It is now turned off. Now try XSI

thats wierd, all i get from the menu is: "AVG anti-virus Free reports that it is up to date and virus scanning is on. Antivirus software helps protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. (then the link) How does antivirus software help protect my computer?"
I clicked on that link and it showed me the help and support page, in the search box i typed in "how to turn off anti virus" but it came up with no results
