Skyhammer's Gladiator Creation Contesty Thingymibobby

Okay, I'm currently working on Stygiana V2, after having V1 and a second map end up in such a mess I just deleted them (off-topic: could any moderators reading this please delete the Mervana topic?). Anyways Styg V2 is coming along nicely, 3 out of 4 major sides completely done, another half way and various heroes and villains mainly done. The map is only about 30% done however, mainly because it's 4 times bigger than a normal map.

Anyways, without revealing too much about the actual map, assault mode for GCW is custom heroes vs villains, with 2 cps for each - one spawns you in any of four arenas, the other spawns you in a massive wasteland pretty much anywhere. Did I mention there are a ton of zombie (old, damaged) battledroids, desert nomads, pirates and escaped convicts? There are.
However, CW assault isn't custom heroes exactly, it's more lots of different warriors and gladiators, on two different teams, but fighting all the above mentioned laser fodder more than each other. This started as somewhere to put all the 'unconventional' weapons I've made. At the moment there are four gladiators, each with their own weaponry sets.

And that's where you come in.

For this mode I plan to have a total of 16 gladiators (10 gunners, 4 jedi, 2 melee), but I want them to be well varied. What is really needed here is some different people's ideas. Ideas could be for weapons, troops, abilities, weapon sets, whatever.

If you've got an idea for a weapon or force power, be aware that the BF2 engine is somewhat limited in terms of the weaponry you can make, and post some specifications. Like what the fire rate is like, what the shots are, how powerful they are, any explosions etc it uses.

Anyone who contributes a weapon idea will get a note in the credits under 'weapon/force powers/gladiator ideas contributed by'. Also, I *might* put in some signs in various bits of the maps with things like 'Get the new (weapon name), provided by (forumer's name) industries' or '(Gladiator class'es) trained and supplied by (forumer's name)'


Here is alist of the weapons I have already + any suggestions accepted
Seismic bomb - makes a shockwave that knocks everyone over and has huge shake but little damage.
Harpoon Gun - fire black ewok spears, charge to fire one that explodes after a little while
Snoutgun (also used by imp. engineer) - fire a grenade that smashes people into the air then blows up.
Disc Blade Launcher - shoot bouncing razor discs.
Ravager - superweapon, fake grenade that fires sixty beams at once in every direction. Evil.
Globe Gun - fire purple 'globes' in salvos. Globes not effective against droids. More you charge, bigger the globes.
Crossbow - fire ewok spears from a bowcaster, shots move very fast.
Antimatter Cannon - superweapon, 12 sec charge period, blows stuff up very muchly.
Shock Rocket - guided rocket that blowsup in a cloud of wrist rockets and shrapnel.
Beam Generator - fire a poweful lasar beam for several seconds.
Laser Cutter - close range, evil beam.

Force Powers:
Force Bomb, Force Wave, Force Blast, Force Heal, Force Overheat, Force Meteor, Force LIghtning, Force Storm, Force Lightning Orb, Force Earthquake.

Remember, you don't actually have to have made the weapon to post it as a weapon idea!

Also, people can make weaponsets for gladiators from the weapons above as well as other ones they come up with. Ecample:

Mandorlin Gladiator
-Beam Generator
-(some weapon you made up)
-Ravager x 1 (secondary)

The most fun and weird weapon I ever made was a chaingun shooting (black) ewokspears that bounced against walls. (ever played JK? It works like the secondairy fire of the bowcaster). And it gets stuck into whoever you shoot it at :D So if you'd shoot at the wall in front of you, you'd kill yourself, and if you'd shoot them in a corridor, they fly around for some seconds :D

I made a beam generator, I love it, you have the Emp launcher and it shoots a blue ray, that fries people. :D

But I like The Emperor's weapon sounds cool!

The Emperor should make a bowcaster like that. I remember that set up from Republic Commando. That might actually be the 'canon' ordinance.

The Emperor: decided to post info on weapons I've already got because of your post.
That idea doesn't sound too crazy, problem is I've already got a crossbow and the disc blade gun, which does exactly what you said those spears do.

EGG_GUTS: haven't got one of those. Could you giuve me a bit more info (power, ammo type, fire rate etc.) if you wan't me to put it in.

Also, these weapons are unconventional, not unserious. So things like flying ewoks and pretty much anything Boeing style are counted as too unserious.

Gama Blast - Powerful beam of energy with little acuracy, tons of damage, taken by a heavy and slow trooper

and need a crazy skin? :P

It's pretty much the Republic Fightertank's Beam in a gun. With infinite ammo. and the longer It fires for about 3-5 sec
but deals a fair amount of damage.

I did make it. (don't have the assets anymore though). It's basicly a grenade (sticky class) with an invisable msh with a green bolt effect attached to it, shot at high velocity and made to "explode" on human/vehicle/droid impact. Easy to make and kinda fun. I don't recall them being like that in rc, but it's the secondairy fire of bowcasters in the jk series.


Anyway the disc idea sounds even better than spears :D makes more sense that they bounce too.

The beam generator sounds cool, I actually made one of those too once. I used the rep. rocketlauncher model though, to make it look bulky and powerfull. Lol, I used a beam as fat as the rocketlaunchers barrel.

In RC, you would charge up the bowcaster and it would fire a bouncing shot that would pin the enemies to walls and shock them to death.

Sticking people to walls = not possible

In RC, uncharged, it doesn't stick people to walls, does about 3/4 damage of a sniper shot.
Charged, it's a one-hit kill and sticks people to the wall whilst shocking them.

SilvaDalek: skins would be cool, please post them in this topic, but be aware they might not get used. Also, could you expand on your gama blast idea?

EGG: yep, that was pretty much what the beam weapons I made previously were like. However, I set them up so you had to fire by holding 'fire' down, cos if you've got a beam weapon that has a long beam from just one press and your troop dies the rotten beam keeps firing until it expires even though your dead. I'll use it.

One of my force powers that i made is Force Earthquake. Basically the jedi fires a grenade that immediatley hits the ground, explodes, and has weak push, damage and shake values with HUGE radii.

Syth: wow, by coincidence I already made a seismic grenade for my republic side which does that but with a 5 sec timer. Good idea though, I'll use it.
