Making a Casual Game
I've been interested in creating a game for quite a while, and while I've been successful with bits and pieces of games here and there, most of the projects I have pursued have never gotten off their feet. Because of that, the idea of making a simple, casual game has become ideal. I want to try making something small, but honestly, I haven't gotten a whole lot of ideas that seemed like something worth making. Any advice or ideas? I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Re: Making a Casual Game
The recipe for creating a sucessful casual game is to make something that has rewarding gameplay, using a skinner box methodology and doesn't necessarily require the user to keep playing it for long.
As for the ideas themselves, well, I like puzzles... hmm, how about something involving light? The player must make the light go through an obstacles course and reach a specific spot by using mirrors and other materials that may have different effects on it, such as crystals, colored glass, etc.
Edit: Have we... done this before? I mean, this thread, it seems familiar.

Yes, I remember you posting about a gravity-based platformer.

Thanks for the feedback, some kind of light-bending game does sound kind of cool. Might be neat as a strategy game as well as a single-player puzzle, in which you play with chess-like pieces to manipulate light.
