Don't know if this is relevant or not.
SWBF didn't require a .anims file for animation to work but SWBF2 does, this is the content of the anims file for bes2_carbon_forklift:
bes2_carbon_forklift.anims

You'll also need the bes2_carbon_forklift.zaabin and zafbin files in your world's "MUNGED" folder, usually located here:
data_ABC\Worlds\ABC\MUNGED
