Trouble with making a .msh file [Solved]

Post by SpartanA259 »

Ok so im finally learning how to model and I made a sniper rifle out of the stock DC-15 rifle and saved it. I exported it as a .XSI and used MshEx_beta3 to turn it into a .msh file. When the MshEx got done making it a .msh file I went and looked at it in the swbfviewer and it didnt show up. Also I opened up the .msh and I saw my texture name and a bunch of cameraroots.

1.) Did you make the mesh a child of a null?
2.) Before exporting, did you branch select that null?

(Unrelated to problem, but always good to confirm:)
3.) Did you freeze objects?
4.) Did you freeze transformations?

1. Yes
2. Yes
3 and 4. The buttons where freeze were supposed to be weren't there, all that was there was constrain and snap.
Also im using XSI 7.5 if this helps a little more.

Could you please post a screenshot of the program? I'll circle the button(s) (in case it/they actually is/are there and you're just being a silly goosey penguin :P).

Press Print Screen, go into Paint or GIMP and press Ctrl+V and save the image and upload it to ImageShack or drop it in your Dropbox or something.

Alternatively, if you have Windows Vista/7, you can go into Start > All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool and drag a region around where you want the screen to be "shot" (ha I'm so funny), save the image, and upload it to blah blah blah.

what type of layout do you currently have?
if you have default, use 1024 and if you have 1024 use default.

@Freezing transforms
Just left click the transforms button and freeze transforms

@The weapon
Try putting it in a level as a prop(a test level if possible). Sometimes swbfviewer doesn't work right but it shows up fine ingame.

Try to right click Snap and Constrain, this should hide all the buttons and just leave you with the Menus. This might give you enough space to see the Edit Menu. If youre able to see it, left-click it, then Operator>Freeze Modeling/Selected.

@DarthD.U.C.K. How do I find what layout im using?
@ANDEWEGET Ok I did that and the freeze buttons came back.
I then exported it and tried to make it a .msh file. When I opened the .msh file this is what was in there.

Generally it should look like this. Just way longer/more data. It seems MshEx had some problems writing the mesh data... Make sure you followed the instructions and exported in the right format(.xsi 5.0 text I believe).

I've always had to export my objects as .obj's and then re-import them to properly convert them to .msh

Ok I got it to turn into a .msh file now I have a new problem. When I open the model in swbfviewer the model is in pieces like this.
Image
The barrel is moved down from the main part of the gun and the bacta can is not attached to the stock of the rifle. Those two extra pieces are the ironsites and the place that held the bacta can up. I also tried the model in ZE and ingame and the model still is in pieces.
