Disney buys Marvel for $4 billion

[Diet Doctor Pepper], this is the end of one of the best comic book publishers out there. This makes the fails by LucasArts look mild, IMO. Seeing the pages of the comics I've flipped through, I actually like the somewhat mature stuff featured in things like X-Men, Spider-Man, etc. Now Disney ruins it all. Someone get me a pitchfork...

I just hope that Iron Man II doesn't turn into "Iron Man II: The Musical".

Uhh, wait a second.
*retrieves computer*
If that happens, I'll go crazy. I hate High School Musical.

Grow up, people. It's unlikely anything's going to change. Disney owns ABC and ESPN, too, and it's not like you see cartoon characters showing up in football games or Lost. Seriously, whine less. I'm extra tired of hearing all the railing against anything that doesn't fit into the narrow preteen boy demographic.
Incidentally, in your rush to be narrowminded, you overlooked what has actually been said about the deal:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/32626133
...and it's likely all this means is that Marvel will have more resources to do what they want, which is good for you.
But seriously, the whining stops. It happens every time anything vaguely not-boy-related happens, and I've really had it up to here. (Picture me holding my hand above my head.)

Seriously, just stop and imagine Iron Man with musical duets.

Sorry, Mav. Like DarthRogueKnight said, overreacting is funny to read.
And I will never imagine Iron Man in a musical. That sickens me.

I would watch it and probably enjoy it because I like both Iron Man and musicals.DarthRogueKnight wrote:Oh, I know, but overreactions make for good laughs later on.

For those of us who happen to like more than guns, shooting, video games, action, and anything to which the word "awesome" is commonly used as a descriptor, hearing the constant whining is like nails against a chalkboard. Imagine if you went on a board where people whined about how bad Star Wars was, how unrealistic, how terrible the acting was, how fake the effects looked, how lame the... and on and on and on every time it was brought up. It would be irritating to say the least.
No, it's not. It's just irritating, because it happens all the time.Sorry, Mav. Like DarthRogueKnight said, overreacting is funny to read.

Well, one good thing has come of this: it made me decide to get the House of M and Civil War comics. I still have my doubts that Marvel will be the same, though.

Re: Disney buys Marvel for $4 billion
Disney is just a company, a very powerful, huge company I might add, but a company nonetheless. Shows like High School Musical and Hannah Montana are just one small portion of the vast Disney Empire. Like Mav said, Disney has its hands in a large variety of things.
Marvel will still be mostly unchanged, but with Disney at the helm, it will be marketed again and again, to rake in the dough. Bottom line: It's all about money, and always will be about money. Disney has changed completely from Walt's Steamboat Willie and his original vision. That's the way the world goes 'round.

Okay, I guess it's not that bad then. Pretty much, it looks like Marvel will just get more money spent on them.

After the initial thought of "WTF?!", my second thought was "Sweet, maybe Disney World will be a lot cooler in about a decade."

I don't mind Disney owning Marvel. The thing I like about Disney is that they can make big action packed movies and have it not ruined with swearing, such as Pirates and Narnia.

I'm a bit surprised though, I don't know, it's weird to think that a company as big as Marvel was bought... well... maybe not.
