Getting the alpha channel back onto the magna guard.

Post by busterkinkade »

I have finished doing a magnaguard texture and I now want to get the alpha channel back onto the texture, however I have tried with the GIMP and photoshop to no avail, if anyone has any knowledge or knows how to get the alpha channels back onto a texture I would like some help, it would be greatly appriciated!

to add an alpha channel to an image in photoshop, just open up the channels window, then click the button at the bottom of it to the left of the trash can to create a new channel. hope this is what you needed...

Well I sort of need the alpha channels from the original magnaguard texture, is there anyway I could copy them over?

i would think there would be...

(this is totally theoretical, but i think it would work)
try opening the original tga texture in photoshop, then hiding all the channels except the alpha one. select all > copy, then go to your new texture and paste (or perhaps new channel? from selection? not really sure...). or you could try it the other way, copy and paste your new texture over the old one (in photoshop), leaving the alpha channel alone, and then saving it as soemthing else. actually i'd suggest trying that first. if that doesn't work or if you've already tried that, you're gonna need somebody else's help, cuz that goes beyond my experience.

what if you just copy your current texture onto the magna guard's original... that would work.

No, I can't copy my magnaguard texture onto the originals, because it pastes it over the existing channels, I knew there was a problem with the other way, I'm just trying it again.
