(off topic)
Hey guys,
I have money for a Wii, and the problem is it's absolutley sold out everywhere. ugh.
I have some questions though (too lazy to search 35 pages
)
Does the internet browser cost anything?
Can you play online with others?
And how much does it cost to download games? I know you need a Wii points card, but do you
need a credit card?
Thanks for putting up with my questions
!
From what I heard, it seems like a system that is better than anything made before (except PC
). I love the virtual consle concept.

I'm lost by "points". What do you mean by points? like 360 achievements? Then no. By Wii points to buy stuff off of the VC then i don't know. I haven't heard anything about that. It's possible.Kaos4 wrote:I'm thinking about buying a wii because of its inexpensive price tag, but most of the games I have seen seem geared towards younger audiences. Do any of you know if there will be any good fps games for the wii? And can you earn points by playing games, or just by buying them? Thanks.
Good FPS? Well CoD3 and Red Steel are out but they were average or a bit above. There's Medal of Honor Vanguard, dunno how good that is. And of course there's Metroid Prime 3!!! That's going to rock.
SPeaking of rocking GHIII is confirmed for Wii. Just google or go to IGN for full info.

The Wii has quite a few shooters for it out already (and more coming soon!). Look at Medal of Honor, Red Steel, Far Cry (which is REALLY cheap right now - only about $25 Canadian at the moment for a NEW copy). There are more games coming up that will also be geared towards a more mature audience (not necessarily rated "M", but not for little kiddies. Metroid is a big franchise for Nintendo, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a new Resident Evil coming out soon - seeing as Nintendo owns Capcom, this is almost a sure bet, and seeing as there's a new Resident Evil movie coming out this year, you can definitely put your money on the fact that a game won't be far behind. Think how cool it will be to bash zombies heads in using the Wii-mote. Anyone out there who has played the GC versions of Resident Evil can attest to how good they are. The graphics for Resident Evil 4 SLAY the PS 2's version - and it was a Nintendo exclusive for over a year before they ported it to the Playstation. I would imagine that any other Resident Evil games will also be exclusives for a while.Kaos4 wrote:I'm thinking about buying a wii because of its inexpensive price tag, but most of the games I have seen seem geared towards younger audiences. There are lots of games out there that aren't for kids - especially if you go back into the Gamecube library. Most GC games are dirt cheap now, so you can pick up quite a few decent games there - although I have found that for some reason the GC memory cards don't always work properly in the Wii.
If you're into driving games, there's tonnes to choose from - NFS: Carbon is a good one (the whole series has been great). And Nintendo has some very unique games that I would not say are geared towards kids at all - try Trauma Center - puts you in control of a surgeon, using the motion sensitive Wii-mote to perform surgeries. Add all this together with the 80 or so games in the virtual console, and you'll have tonnes of games to keep you occupied for a long time.
As far as how Points cards work - think of a long distance phone card. You go to your local store, purchase a Wii-points card (for about $20), and take it home. Scratch the backside of the card, and enter the pin code. You now have 2000 points to spend to buy classic video games from Nintendo, Super NES, N64, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx 16 systems. The games start at 500 points (works out to $5 essentially), that are automatically deducted from your wii-points card balance. The most expensive games are the N64 games (of which there are only 4 I believe - Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and Star Fox 64) - N64 games cost 1000 points (or $10).
You don't have to use the wii-points cards if you don't want to though. The cards were quite scarce here for quite a while, and were almost impossible to find. If you have a credit card, you can use that to purchase games from the Virtual Store - but if you're paranoid about online shopping, the Wii-points card is far more secure and sensible.
