Modify unit mesh [Solved]

Post by Oceans14 »

So I'm trying to make some modifications to the stock clone trooper mesh in xsi, but whenever I click on, say, the head, I get the override texture showing up as connected points rather than a nice polygon that I can rotate, scale, transform, whatever. I searched through the forum for a tut on modifying rather than creating a new unit model, but no luck. Could somebody clarify why unit models seem to lack editable polygons (or at least, what settings should I change in xsi to allow me to do this). I really only want to do simple cosmetic stuff, like swap some heads, change some gear, you know the drill. Thanks

Oh ps, I'm using ModTool 7.5 and Ande's ZE tools addon to import meshes.

At the top right under the select window there is polygon. You can also press select > tools> for different ways to select things. I use rectangle and freeform the most.

You can also change the view from wireframe to shaded and to some other things, at the top right of the viewport.

Right, I've been using all the different select modes and viewing the model in textured mode. But when I select one part of the model, this happens:
Hidden/Spoiler:

The entire override texture gets selected whether I like it or not. Despite the color coding, I can't find a way to isolate just one body part.

You're still in object select mode. You want polygon select mode. Press U for raycast (paint selection), or press Y for rectangle select.
If you want to remove the head but it happens to be merged with other geometry then you would select the head polygons and just delete them or Extract Polygons (delete) to unmerge these polygons from the rest. The latter won't actually delete anything, it just makes those extracted polygons a new object which you could export out, delete or whatever.
