Only AI units having shadows?

Post by modmaster13 »

Hey!

In Zero Editor, I know how to add shadow and everything, but is there a way to add shadows to the AI units ONLY? :bdroid2:

Also If you think you have an answer to this topic, answer away!

No, it's not possible, even with extensive XSI work you won't only have shadows for AI.

Well, I have noticed that only some odfs have shadows. Is there any way to remove or add shadows to the odfs?

P.S. Nice canyon map bobfinkl!

That is true, but the shadows are really determined by the .msh of the object which is only able to edited within XSI I myself don't dare go beyond minor changed in XSI, it'd be a truly grand project to remove all the object shadows from the objects in your modmap and you'd still end up with the human player having a shadow along with the AI having shadows (unchangeable unless the human player is forced to a team and has no AI).

And thank you.

Well, I didn't know it would be that complicated, but this topic by Galaxy15 (if i'm correct) he got shadows for the AI only.

Yes, just to further clarify, this is terrain and character shadows, but ALL characters had shadows. Not just AI.

Well you could add a -noshadow line to the .msh.option file right? I have done that before.

Then whatever uses that msh, whether player-controlled or not, won't have a shadow. I'm not sure you can remove shadows from playermeshes that way, anyway. Maybe you can.

if it's possible to remove the shadows of one side (provided that's what bobfinkl means with "unchangeable unless the human player is forced to a team and has no AI"), you could try that and add a local side with shadows which helps the player...

Exactly what I meant, however to elaborate further the player must be only able to play as certain unit types that the player and ONLY the player has access to, meaning no team choosing available.

90% sure you can and that I have used it once before, however regardless you still end up with the problem I mentioned before, unless you were doing a complex campaign mode it simply isn't possible nor practical.
