did you do something unusual with our object?
if you are lucky xsi probably made bacjkup of the scene in the addons\modtool_database\backup or XSI_SAMPLES\backup folder

why cannot i open??
before it worked.
the first time i tryed to open something from this projekt i imported an XSI man for according the bigness. there appeared an error a model is a ghost or something like that.
i saved the project more than one time. i still have opened the project in XSI 7.5 i can't export it as dotXSI it will crash the program and destroy all saved files. what can i do now?? is this open error only because of XSI 4.2 and i can open it again in xsi 7.5 after i closed it??

XSI (non modtools version 5.11 and lower) use .scn as thier scene file extensions.
Modtools uses .exp.
You can open a scn file in modtools but you cannot open an exp in XSI you need to use crosswalk to export it as a .xsi file and import it into, in your case 4.2 using .xsi import.

Make sure you use 5.0 text as the export method in crosswalk.

If it is a strict model no bones then you can export it as an obj.
If it has bones and they are easy to reproduce in XSI 4.2 then you cn still use obj as an export
you just have to redo the enveloping and such.
If they are complex bones and enveloping then you will need to export it as a .xsi as mentioned above.

ähm i don't understand what crosswalk did i need??? there is the programm crosswalk
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/it ... D=12544121

or did you mean the crosswalk funktion in XSI7.5(file>crosswalk>export)???

because i can export as xsi with 7.5 with the file>crosswalk>export.... function.

after that how can i make it to an msh file so it will work in zero and than in BF II??

Since you export to .msh using crosswalk, yourmodel is BF1/BF2-ready (sure, you need to make an ODF).

are you shure that what you say is right?
crosswalk can import and export various filetypes including .xsi-files from older versions of xsi but not .msh
repsharpshooters meshtool can convert certain files you can export with crosswalk to msh, for more information read the crosswalk documentation.

if you dont understand how to use a .msh-file you should read first the documentation, then maybe some beginner tutorials and finally use the searchfunction if you still havent foudn what you are looking for.

here i exported like the first thread say:
RepSharpshooter wrote: 6. CHECK "EXPORT SELECTION ONLY"
7. CHECK "CONVERT GEOMETRY TO TRIANGLES" or "CONVERT MESHES TO TRIANGLES"
8. CHECK "EXPORT XSI NORMALS"
9. UNCHECK "Keep referenced paths relative
BUT I CAN CHOOSE MANY MORE THINGS AND NOT ONLY THIS 4. I IGNORED IT AND CHANGED NOTHING WITHOUT THIS 4 POINTS:

i put it in the same folder witht he MeshEx.exe and the hedr.msh file

and so on

here a picture

the xsiftk files are the .xsi files don't know why it is named so

=======EDIT===================

what did this means??
RepSharpshooter wrote: 1. Put everything you're going to export under a null (not the scene root).
2. In the scene explorer, middle-mouse click the name of the null.

===========EDIT======================

ok i experimented a bit and i get a msh file. but while the converting there were some problems:

a windows error apears mshEx had a problem adn must shut down..

before i saw this:
