Runtime Error

Post by Mozzarella »

Hi all,

I just got back into Battlefront 1 recently and I'm going to try my hand at map making, since I had a few ideas I wanted to pan out. I actually had the mod tool for both BF1 and BF2 back in the day, but then I switch from XP to Windows 7 and forgot to reinstall them. So I downloaded and installed the mod tool from Gamespot today, and created a new map, but when I try to run Zero Editor from the map's data folder I get this error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: ...Documents\BF Mod Tools\BFBuilder\DataMOZ1\zeroeditor.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I moved it to My Documents because I was getting the same error when it was in the Lucasarts folder and someone said I should move it out of there. I've tried running in compatibility mode for all different OS's and it's the same deal, I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I recall having similar problems when I tried it on XP though, any ideas?

Well, since it's on a 64-bit you'll need to read this to help you munge:

As for the that error, can't help you much. Try reinstalling the tools.

Think i remember reading about this but it could be caused by runtimes not being installed but maybe graphics card(i think i heard that but sounds strange myself)

I've always had error, bugs & crashes with Zero Editor no matter what O/S I was using so you might just be right about the graphics card. I've got an Nvidia 8600GT (old I know), should I definitely be looking into an upgrade?

Wait, I think the video card could be it. I used to mod on my family's desktop, then the video card crashed and we went to the integrated one. After that point I believe I always got that same error when I tried loading zeroeditor.

I'm upgrading my system in a couple of weeks, going to splurge on new parts and everything. I'll throw a more modern GPU in there to patch up this problem. Thanks for the help guys!
