Battlefield 2 and online lag

Ok all i ask is for people not to post "haha! serves you right for getting Vista" , or etc.

When i played battlefield 2 with XP i got no lag except during shell shock and at the beginning of every game. When i play on VIsta i lag like crazy with no signs of why. Same server. The only thing i can think of is it is the something in the OS. Or that Battlefield 2 is only tested with XP. Any thoughts, tips, tricks?

Try turning off transparency before you play.

transparency as in the aero glass? I'm just making sure I'm on the right page with ya. And that's in the settings right? (Yes i know i own VIsta and i don't even know where every thing is)

Yes. Right click the desktop and choose personalize. Then choose Windows colour and appearance.

ah thanks. I just finished a lag test by playing first singleplayer then multiplayer. In the singleplayer game no lag what so ever, so i don't think it's a hardware problem, but when i went back online i still lagged. So it must have something with my connection. Also does it help if in options i'd switch Connection from T1(LAN) to Cabel? I think

Aero, those fancy Windows graphics, gets disabled when you run a game in full screen, so chaning that should not do anything (which also means it wouldn't hurt too). Vista has a different network stack than XP. Have you upgraded your network card drivers? Overall, does the net seem slower? What are your hardware specs?

A quick search turned up the following site. It has some good tips. I'm not going to repeat them here.

Thanks Zerted! I'll check out the site more when i get the time.
Specs: 1gb of RAM, 80gb hard drive, 5200 Nvidia GeForce card. I don't know exactly what you mean by network card drivers since it's a desktop and is wired. Net is fine. Need any more specs?

Nothing works without a driver. Sounds like your network card is built into your motherboard. Check your mootherboard site for updates. (I don't think the problem is here, but its worth checking out)

By looking at the manual that came with your computer...

If you bought a package from somewhere like Dell, go to Dell's support page, look up your computer model, and check for any updates.

ok. I got the time to find out what my motherboard is with HWiNFO32. Shareware program.
Here's what it found out
Motherboard model: Micro-star international co., LTD Gamila/Giovani/Neon Series
Motherboard chipset: Intel 845GEV (Brookdale-GEV) + ICH4

So I'll google both and see what i get.
