New Map Problem- *SOLVED*

Post by PieDude797 »

This is the first that this has happened to me. In the wiki it says that when you make a new map, you can play it in the game, and the default scenery is a flat grassy area with four command posts. But instead, when i munge my map and it says to play it in battlefront2, when i try to open mod tools or battlefront 2, it crashes right after it shows the loading screen. It will show that it's loading, but when it's done, it won't continue, it just crashes, what's the problem?

Perhaps you have too many mod maps in your addon folder. After a certain number of maps BF2 just crashes.

What do you mean when you say "it crashes right after it shows the loading screen"? Do you mean when you load the map, or when you load the game? If it crashes when it's loading the game, it's probably because there are too many maps in your addon folder. If it crashes when loading the map, it could be any number of reasons. Did you add any dc: lines to the LUA? Run the BF2_modtools.exe again and have a look at the BF2 log.

Here's what the BF2 log says:

Message Severity: 3
.\Source\LuaCallbacks_Mission.cpp(866)
Lua ReadDataFile: Could not open ..\..\addon\NPO\data\_LVL_PC\core.lvl

Message Severity: 3
.\Source\LuaScript.cpp(435)
Script file addme not found

I have never seen these error messages before. The first thing that comes up when you launch the game is the loading screen. That's the one i'm talking about

Have you been messing around with your addme.lvl? An invalid core.lvl can crash the entire game.

No i havn't. Right after i munge the files, i try to play the game, but i don't touch anything else in the file until i make sure it's working. And i've re-installed mod tools and battlefront2, and i still have the problem.

Open VisualMunge, select all, then clean. CLOSE VisualMunge. Next go to your SWBF2 addon folder and delete your map. Finally re-open visualMunge and re-munge your map.

Then i munged it, same problem as before.

Where did you install the Mod Tools? The C: or the Program Files? If you don't place specifically in the C:. then you mod tools are messed up badly.

Also does your loading screen crash before or after it reaches the final red button?

It would have to start from left to right.

Well, I have my Mod Tools installed under C:\ProgramFiles\LucasArts\StarWarsBattlefront2\GameData. Isn't that where it's supposed to be? And for the second Question you asked Droideka88, It crashes after the final red button lights up. To be more specific, it crashes exactly when it's done loading. I'll try to remake the map.

Edit: Okay the map has been made, and just curious, this is what's supposed to show up on the munging process right?

Common\munge PC
Files\LucasArts\Star was unexpected at this time.
Munging addme.lua...done.
Copying files to Battlefront II directory:
"C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData"
Creating "addon" dir in BF2 dir...done.
Creating mod dir "TPR" dir in addon dir...done.
Copying addme.script to mod dir...done
Copying "mission.lvl" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "core.lvl" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "TPR" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "SIDE" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Munge process finished

No. Put the modtools in the root of your C:/, otherwise the munge process doesn't work properly. It should be C:\BF2_ModTools.

Ahhhh, well, that is probably the problem... i'll get back to you later on that.

Edit: okay, before i test the map, just want to make sure, the actual Mod Tools program is supposed to be located in
C:\ProgramFiles\LucasArts\StarWarsBattlefront2\GameData, right?

Edit: Okay. It's working now. All that i needed to do was move Mod Tools. (Isn't it just weird like that how one simple mistake can ruin everything?) Well, I guess that's a problem solved. But before this topic is locked, can i get an answer to this question?

Edit: You know what, forget about that question. SOLVED
