Star Wars Battlefront II PC Spawn

Hello, I am interested in creating a mod that allows the players (or myself, whichever one is possible) to change classes from anywhere without the use of a CP. Is there a way to go about doing this? Thanks in advance!

You could make a script that detects when people suicide, then transports them to their suicide location when they respawn. This would work on any map.

If you are doing this for a specific map, then you could greatly increase the range of a CP and have it cover the entire map.

Thanks for the reply! Suicide or death? I was hoping there was a way you could change classes without dying first, like you are walking up to the CP.

User is asking for what is essentially a cheat for hero assault. Topic should be locked and account should be banned.

I have witnessed first hand the chaos of that cheat being used in multiplayer, and it completely ruins the game at times, although in recent times I don't recall seeing it much. (It was everywhere in 2014-ish) It really needs to die and should not be mentioned anywhere which will only bring more attention to it. I highly recommend erasing this thread.

I have attempted to make a patch for that cheat but it's not that great. It involves the host to replace their mission.lvl in the server folder. I can provide my anti-switching patch if anyone wants it, but again, it's not that great. Well, it does work but at a cost.

This has nothing to do with a cheat. What I am talking about is a modded map where the users can select a new class from anywhere. Such a modded map would be very interesting to play. The client modded map of course wouldn't work online unless a server is hosting the modded map, that's just basic hosting mechanics.

I run a server every now and then, and I may encounter noobs cheating with the cheat you mentioned (which I still don't understand how they could do something like that), so I would appreciate it if you could provide the patch.

You cannot fool me, because I've debugged the switching cheat and understand how it works. I know that is what you are trying to get simply because of the initial posting you made and how you were asking for it. The switching cheat derives from a certain visual data (any deep modder knows all visual data is not controlled by the host, but instead loads from the clients - allowing each their own)

Even if you really are legit, which I do not believe, I would still not post the back bone of how it works, and anyone else who respects the game wouldn't either.

For the last time, I am not asking for some swap cheat, rather a way to create a modded map where the players can swap their character anywhere. In my first post I simply asked if such a thing were possible, and to whom the mod could be applied, and I got two routes that I could take, the second route seeming easiest. And anyway, nobody cares about this game anymore but groups of friends who love Star Wars and who occasionally want to organize a match together online, which is what I enjoy. Are you like some like try-hard hacker who enjoys competition and leaderboards or something?

Edit: Visuals don't matter squat, only the mechanics of the game.

If a mod map did include your request it would not work correctly as it breaks single player mode based on how it needs to be set up. I have to think you wouldn't even have an idea like that unless you saw others with it, and that no other mods ever made featured such a thing.

I am not going to reply any more because I am risking my own self on Gametoast discussing exploits which isn't allowed. If you want it that bad enough you'll hopefully have to learn it elsewhere.

No, it would not break single player mode (plus single player mode is boring I already mentioned hosting). All you have to do is go into one of the .lvl files, find the spawnpoints, and edit the values. Voila! A modded map. I just can't find where those values are atm.

If I sound perturbed I am perturbed, because instead of simple information on modding, all I get is crap about people using hacks and some sort of junk about visual data (which all got transferred to me somehow).

What I am trying to explain is that what you want is only possible while in multiplayer, and only from the client side.
If the host side does this, it breaks the game because every command posts is conflicting and when you attempt to spawn everything will be whited out PLUS the switching cheat is visual data that cannot be manipulated by the host side. Even if the host side did have the feature, and a way to not break spawning, it would not work -- because it's a visual aspect and can only be changed on the client side, which at that point becomes a cheat. That is how Sketchup and I know you're full of bologna, we've hanged around players who showed us how it worked, we how ever will not share it because it is against the rules, well I care about GT rules (can't speak for my old pal Sketchboard) and that anything posted relating to this would be used by future users who might be looking for illegal use of it.

I find it hard to believe that you can't just edit one spawn from each team inside the files, not with whatever gobbledygook you're talking about. Just the range. In the game, you go up to a spawn, press enter, and then you can choose. So why not make this on a map-size scale?

There's a SwitchClassRadius property in the com_bldg_controlzone.odf you can adjust.

Okay, thanks for the reply! That's just what I'm looking for. How would I get to to the file you mentioned though? I already have HxD Hex Editor installed so all I have to do is search for the property in the right file, but all of my files are still packed into large .lvl files. I've already installed the extractor as well but all that does is extract the .lua files into .lub files (and does nothing for most of the others), and anyway there isn't any way to re-pack them for use once unpacked, is there? Or can they be used unpacked? Anyway, that's a bit off-topic. My biggest bet is that I need some of the capabilities of the mod tools to obtain this file and edit it for use in the game. However, I do not have these tools, for I haven't tried to mod anything in a long time and finally just deleted them because my laptop was strapped for space. And then filefront went down, and I have no idea where to get the mod tools now.
