Glow Question

Post by Fluffy_the_ic »

So I am playing around with Rep's Meshtool 4. I've bumpmapped the commando and my maze. Now I want to make the visor of the commando glow. Is it possible to make just the visor glow?

If the visor's texture is it's own material, separate from the texture of the rest of the commando, then yes. For example, if you had fluffy_inf_commando_visor.tga, which contained only the texture of the visor, and then whatever other textures you needed for the rest of the commander. I'm pretty sure that it'll work then. That's what I did for my conference table; I applied a separate texture to the parts I wanted to glow, and then used MeshTool to apply a glow to that material (a.k.a. texture).

Would it be possible to re-UV it so that the visor can have it's own texture without importing into XSI? I just tried and it went horribly.

If such a way exists, I don't know of it. But then again, I'm not the most knowledgeable modeler here, not by a long shot. You'd be best off waiting for someone else to confirm this.

Edit: Wait, did you model the commando and thus have the scene containing it? Because in that case, then yes, you could easily re-UV just the visor.

maybe you could reUV it with ultimate unwrap 3d but im not shure,
but i plan to reenvelope the commando (if i can get an unmessedupobj of it)
and i could give the visor an extra matereil (doesnt has to be an extratexture though(?))
