Autodesk Softimage Mod Tool not installing on Windows 8 64bt

Post by Eaol »

I'm having trouble with the installation of the Softimage Mod Tool on my new Windows 8 machine; when I try to install I get a "Feature Transfer Error" and it closes the launcher. I've done some Googling for solutions but to no avail; changing the language settings don't fix it. It says something about syntaxes being incorrect or something. Re-downloading the installer has no effect.

I've searched the forum and I've not seen anyone with this problem. If anyone has any pointers here, it would be much appreciated!

I just fixed it by downloading Net framework

Turns out I am unable to install any more .Net Frameworks because the latest versions are already installed on my computer.

Odd, try downloading visual c++ redistributeable, specifically 2010+ and/or 2008. Sometimes that fixes programs that dont work. Check that its the correct version of softimage (its the win8 version) and that its also the 64 bit and not 32. I have windows 8 64 bit and softimage works just fine for me.

:o It needs net framework 2? I did not know that. My laptop has all versions of .net framework so im good to go. Other things you could try is compatibility mode (windows 7) and run as administrator. Although highly UN-LIKELY that is causing a problem, it might.

Easy solution: dual boot Windows 7. :p

Heh, you'd probably find yourself using that more often than Windows 8.
