INTERNAL alpha test video. That wasn't a trailer, it was a leaked video. It wasn't meant for public consumption. Unless it's some sort of bizarre viral campaign, but failing companies don't do that.
I have to disagree. It may have been a blitz to boost confidence for FR investors when they needed it most.
You have to disagree? Okay, whatever, but you'll be wrong as far as what we know stands. Because the original source posted that it was an internal alpha video. This is a "hey guys we're doing good here are some clips of our project we've thrown together so far." Internal /= investors. They'd make a polished trailer for that.
Could it be something else? Maybe, but that's in contrast to what we actually know right now.
The timing is not coincidential. Obviously, we don't know if any corp bosses or investors were there at the time but i would highly doubt if they were not aware of this footage at this point. I really think it may have been a last ditch ploy to try to keep people on board.
Now according to Wikipedia
Free Radical Design announced that they lost the rights to develop Star Wars: Battlefront III in October, prior to them going into administration.
Quoting from the cited source
The independent studio had a publishing deal with LucasArts on the unannounced Star Wars Battlefront III, a deal that fell through in October after about two years of development, the source said. "[Free Radical] was relying on Lucas for further contracts which had been promised in some sort of exclusivity deal. Obviously that all went down the pan."
So even if FR makes it through, they're not developing it, period. By the sound of the article, the loss of the SWBF3 deal was actually one of the factors that led to their downfall.
About 20 staff members were offered positions, possibly with Ellis' new venture, Pumpkin Beach, although this is yet to be confirmed. The rest of the employees were told in a separate room that they would be laid off.
This developing team core that we keep hearing about that is being kept onboard is actually a seperate business altogether -- Pumpkin Beach (rumor). So the deal is pretty much set. Let's just pray to dear god that someone buys out FR and retains the rights and material.
