Call of Duty - World at War

Call of Duty World at War Rated M

First i thought Ahh Another WW-II Shooter but i was very surpised.
This Game the best Action WW-II Shooter out now.
To fight on that Pacific Island and to fight your Way throught a totaly outbombed Berlin to capture The -Reichstag-,was absolute insane.
I enjoyed nearly every Mission, that i played.Although the Backround Animations and that what happens around you, feels sometimes very very Realistic and like in a Movie.
Although theres a new Weapon Operator Mission like in CoD4.The One in CoD 4 rocks much but this Mission is hell. You will love it.
The new Weapons are very cool like Airstrike,Panzerschreck and the Flamethrower. This is really a bad Weapon. After using it you feel a little sad.
Although theres a Zombie Mode, that i doesnt played and that dont interest me that much.
The Gore and the bodyparts that fly around are in a state that its not to excessive (not as in BiA-HH)
So for me the SP Rating would be
Gameplay
Graphics
All 3 Storys
Battlefields :

2 gameplay Videos from Mission 2 but Youtube reduced the Quality massive.
I played this Level ,while i recorded it,for the First Time so dont expect a Super Movielike Gameplay
But its good enough to enjoy it.

I'd have to say WaW is a good game, but not better then COD4. For example, the intro into the Russian campaign was hella dramatic, but then u meet the german sniper with his freakin aimbot. Then, if i go to a rather laggy place, I look down, EVERYTHING is 5X faster then it should be. Not sure whats up with that but whatever. Multiplayer is sorta strange, seeing azis use a nambu, and seeing everyone having SILENCERS and aperture sights on all of the gun. Still, WaW I think improved on the MAIN complaints from COD4, like the crappy ragdolls (they gib and ragdoll yay!), the game takes more focus on your squad (Treyarch seems to be good at that), and the scripted scenes are excellent.

the tank mission screenshot should be in the russian campaign part of your comment

apart from that i agree, the game rocks, really, still not that good as cod4, perhaps because it lacks such story like in cod4
and you are right, moh series died for me with the release of airborne and bia was never really good so its the best ww2 shooter out there

the only problem (but very important) is the extremely slow FPS rate, cod4 worked perfectly at highest settings, cod5 has improved cod4 engine, but i had to turn all grafic options to the lowest settings, and i have still extreme lags, and the grafic looks like in cod2... just a little bit worse

@ Negah:
I said only that Cod5 is the best WW-II Shooter and not that its better than CoD4.
Both are running very well on my Pc in -Extra- Settings and i doesnt have any Frame rate Problems in CoD5.Very strange.Eventually you cold lower the Number of Corpse Option. If you dont have done it.That would help eventually a bit.

OffTopic: MoHA :?
Ehh Mate.Airborne is my favo in MoH Series.Cant understand that you dont like it. its not that typical Gameplay like the other MoH Games but its more challangeing and you need to do more in Tactic.
Operation Neptune and Flaktower are very well designed and awesome Maps.
Ok.UT3 Engine isnt the best but in MoHa the GFX also is very very nice.
Actually i play Legendary which uses although UT3 but doesnt look Half as good as MoHA.
I love MoHA

One thing's for sure, Treyarch did way better than their previous attempt with CoD3. I still prefer CoD4 though.

Ugh, I hate the steryotypical Motherland thing the Russians say.

A). They never say that, never have.
B). Comrade? Also, not really something common in Russia.

true, i lived there and i cant remember all that MOTHER RUSSIA stuff, but those are typical stereotypes of russians in the eyes of our 'capitalistic friends'

however most of the gamemakers seem to believe in their government's propaganda (especially Tom Clancy :P )

and dont forget that all non-communist countries were often called "capitalistic [swear-word-of-your-choice]" in USSR and in other communist countries
the same is about Germany, i heard that there are still people in the world in some countries, who believe that all germans are nazis, which wasnt true even in times between 1933-45, and today Germany is IMO the most anti nationalist country in the world
such people, who believe in all that stuff, have low intellectual level, and believe in all what other people, their 'leaders', tell them

so, dont take it serious, and enjoy the game

World at War is the best game ever, especially online, but if you get it for the wii i warn you that it will not have the zombie mod, or death cards. You would better of buying it for PS3 and Xbox, not the best for PC. Other than that i highly recommend this game, you wont be disappointed.

This is not stereotypical, because the Germans and the Russians were known for their barbaric ways of killing their prisoners. The Germans were known for saying "for the fatherland", it was a diverse concept for the Russians, for they were long enemies and despised each other. It is not common in modern day because both countries have changed, as the rest of the world has. Therefore, the creators of WaW were historically correct, you must know much about World War II and World History in order to know about these things.

Grev's quote had nothing to do with the barbaric ways of killing prisoners. And, I'm sorry, but:

Sure, they don't say it now, but as far as the quote is concerned, he is correct, they also didn't say it then.

I sure don't remember anything about barbaric ways of killing enemies. Guns were, well, common in that time. Don't see how that is super barbaric though. And I while you will see that flame the games dark undertones later in this post, no where did I see anything about barbaric killing in the game, which is what we were talking about. And Russians were not "long enemies" of the gemans, I think you would have been just as upset if you had a peace agreement and the side you were neutral with began attacking. This actually spurred the hate. But you'd need to know about World War II and World History in order to know about these things.

Also, I found the advertisements for the game ridiculous: "Darker and Grittier than ever before" .... Is this a joke of some sort? How does that qualify as something good? Of course, I don't play dead space or DOOM, but that just seems like a really stupid thing to say, whatever the target age.

For some reason I can't help but reply.

This game does have it's share of brutality. Summary executions are considered barbaric acts in themselves, regardless of method, and are against the Geneva Conventions. Perhaps we become numb to these things due to the constant exposure to both virtual and real violence, but surely one can see these things for what they are. War is a very brutal thing, and atrocities do occur. It has nothing to do with how common firearms are, since they've been fairly common for many years, and continue to be now. To take that further, it's not even a proper arguement to justify summary executions by the amount of weapons present. If such were a worthwhile justification, I could go on a killing spree right now, as I own several firearms myself. It's a question of morality, and it almost surprises me how cold and calm people seem toward violence until that violence is upon them.

Also, through a quick scan of a wiki article, Stalin may have known of the impending invasion. Then again, this doesn't surprise me. I just felt it was interesting to note.

Now, to the advertisements. No, they're not a joke. It's a way of promoting the game for WWII and combat gaming enthusiasts. So, we're talking about people my age that are probably looking for a FPS game that isn't an arcade experience. It may be hard to believe, but there's a surprising number of older gamers. That M rating has to be for someone, right? :P

Russians are a primitive country, looking to seek and attack enemies. As you know Russia is the farthest thing away from a friend to Americans, if they could launch all their nukes at us they would. Germany hated the Russians, as did the Russians hating the Germans, diplomacy is involved, i don't want to get into politics right now. Besides this is only a videogame, after the surrender of Germany the Germans were brought to Russian prisons. Most were killed brutally, others were tortured out of information. A 90 year old German, of the Leibstandarte S.S., wrote a book on how he was the bodyguard of Hitler. It teaches you the horrors of war. I suggest you read it, it will boost your knowledge on the brutal things men do in war.

I would hardly call Russia primitive.

As for calling the game "darker and grittier," I imagine the people who created the ad were trying to appeal to the types of gamers who want to feel as if they're really in the midst of a war and experience the kind of fear or excitement that would be brought on by that.
