changing color depth of the background sky?
I just noticed that my coruscant streets background looks like an 8 bit texture ingame but it´s 24bit . Is there any settings in the sky req or option file or whatever to change this?

I know youve already checked, but ill say it regardless, does the option have -8bit in it? Maybe you should but -24bit...

can you explain how to get skies working? I had mine working a while ago, but it stopped, and i have a feeling im setting it up wrong. especially because i dont have a sky req. If its in the documentation I must have missed it, but in that case just point me in the right direction, i usually can understand it without any assistance.

I just wonder - have anyone here attempted to create a brand new skydome in XSI and give it a custom-designed texture? (and removing the normal sky of course)
Would be interesting to test that variant out some time.
At least, that would give us total control over it..
Though, I must admit I have no idea if that would improve anything.

We already have total control. It's just the same sky dome with different sky textures mapped to it. So if you want a Geonosis bg, you just copy that sky file to your world1 folder and rename it sky_yavin.tga. Problem solved.
@Rends--Someone mentioned using the .option switches. You might try -24bit, but I doubt that's the problem.

I know its been a while, but any luck?
I am having similar problems, all of my unit skins are 32 bit but are showing up 8 bit ingame. Do you have any other options in the file?
Perhaps it just because the texture is stretched - you dont notice on normal maps because non of them have distinguishing features such as stars that are skinned into the sky tga. If you follow what im saying... Perhaps you would be better off adding stars with a req.

I think I figured it out.
You see, as I said earlier, I was running into the same problem with my unit skins.
I fixed this issue, and assume the solution will work for you as well.
The options for my tgas where all set to 32 bit, but upon looking in the PC folder of my side, i found that no options existed. Once I made them, the skins showed up properly. Make sure the option in the PC folder also gives the 24-bit call - as there is a PC folder in the msh directory of your world folder. Unless your running the sky from a tga from the world1 folder.
Wow im making no sense. If your setup doesnt fit my statement, it most likely wont make sense, nor will it apply. So I say just ignore me if you dont understand..
