Alright. So, whenever I restart my computer/turn it on, it loads up, then the screen flickers black and when it comes back my resolution has changed. This wouldn't be that big of a problem if I just had to change my resolution back every time, but my desktop icons get rearranged also.
The default is 1440x900, but lately it's been resetting to 1152x864.
I have a Vista 64-bit OS and my graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 7100. I have the latest drivers/updates for both.
I think what might be causing the resolution changes is games (non-standard/changing resolutions) but just now I restarted and I hadn't played anything before restarting and it reset my resolution to 1156x864 just like before, so I'm not sure if it is games.
So, does anyone know how to fix this? Should I contact Nvidia? Am I doing something wrong?
Anything?
I'm half asleep. Pardon if I forgot anything.

Left Click on Desktop > Nvidia Control Panel > Display - Adjust Desktop Size and Position > Use NVIDIA Scaling

Doesn't affect it. It just moves my display around.

My computer does the same thing, just more periodically, maybe once a week. I changed my settings as suggested, but I can't report on the effectiveness of it.

You're sure it's not a virus?
Sounds pretty weird to me; I don't think any games would (or should) be changing the resolution at startup.
What programs do you have running at startup?

I think it's just the changing resolution from games that messes it up. I hardly ever play at my default 1440x900 res.
But again, I'm not even sure if games cause it.
I think it started happening after I got a Nvidia graphics driver update (Between 180 and 190).

Re: Resetting Resolution
i have this same problem, but its takes about 6 flashes before is changes. Once at start up it made my screen 800 x 600.
NVidia has a new driver 191.07
Try that if you dont have it (as i try it)

And I installed 191.07 the other day, and it caused the first Res change without playing a game on that session.
