Milkshape Questions

Post by General_Nate »

Alright guys, I have some questions regarding Milkshape 3D:

1. Can Milkshape make player models? Maybe I could import bone models in, and then build around them?
2. Can it create Hard Points?
3. I know that you have to make all the models one group before you convert, but when I do, it just uses 1 of the textures and gets rid of all the others. How can I have more than 1 texture when I export?
4. Once I get my model into ZE, there is no blue selection region surrounding my object. This is a pain cause I can't select it ether, so I have to find it in the Object list.
5. In ZE the objects disappear when I move my camera close, so this is a pain when trying to place objects exactly.

Thanks for all the help!

Ok. Then what about combining the textures and UV mapping it to the model? Can that be done?

yes, but depending on your textures, thats going to be one big texture file.

How do you combine and UV map textures to a model in Milkshape? (To save you the breath, if XSI is the solution, I can't do it.)

The other questions also need answering.

All you have to do is combine all of your textures into one file using GIMP, then re-uv them onto the mesh.

This isn't the place to be asking the other two questions.

All you did was repeat my question. How do you UV map?

EDIT:
Oh, and the other two questions only came to be because of the Milkshape models. That's why they are here.

Alright, will do! Thanks.

Now, what about combining the textures? Do I just make the base image larger and continue to "open as layers" until I get them all there?

Oh, and if I save the file via BConstruct, will the UV mapping go away? Thanks!

1: depending on how many textures you have, double the size of your image respectfully, so if you have two textures, make a 1024x512 texture, if you have three or four, make a 1024x1024, I don't recommend going any larger than that.
2: No, your UV's will stay.

Ah, ok. I got it! I just got a successfully UV-ed model ingame! Thanks! If the other two questions shouldn't be here, I'll move them. But They do need to be answered. :?

Glad to help.

I would suggest a different topic for those other two, since they don't pertain at all to the model.
