this refers to a model which can be found in Common\mshs.
i suppose you have to munge an ingame.lvl for your map if you want to use new models/textures for the icons.

You can load pretty much anything in a req, as long as it is new. Anything that is to be overwritten like a common model (stock detpack for example) needs to be a custom ingame.lvl.
Here's an example of my Clone Rifleman .req from my TCW mod. It uses a custom icon for the EMP grenades.
its a local ingame.lvl with which you can override the common stock stuff. you can also add new things like cpicons to it.

yes, exactly. you should remove all other entrys though to prevent your lvl from getting unnecessarily large.
just be sure to list the new stuff you add under the right header (textures under "texture", effects under "config" etc.)

yes, the normal munge will do. you have to manually copy over the ingame.lvl though. to find out if the new stuff has been munged, go into _BUILD\Common\PC and look of the folder contains files named like the new assets you added.
about the speed: that cant be done through a "buff" but i guess you could use setproperty to increase a units speed...
