ForceMaster's Ships Assets - how to use?

Post by sharp »

Hi, I'm new to modeling and just make it for fun. I'm using Blender and everything works well.

A few days ago I found the "Ships Assets" by ForceMaster and I was so happy about it. So I downloaded them to check, if I can work with them, before i contact someone. Now I've got a really simple problem: Most of the files are .scn or .scntoc. How do i get them work in blender and how do i implement them in Star Wars Battlefront II ?

Thanks for help!

PS: Sorry, my English isn't the best

The file formats you mentioned are Softimage scene files, which can only be opened by Softimage. You'll need to ask someone to convert them to a format Blender can import or install Softimage and do it yourself.

Maybe you have to import it and not open it ? Stupid idea but I have had a project in blender and this has been a problem.

One of the downsides to Mod Tool being free is the inability to open proprietary scn format files, exp is Mod Tool's version of scn files.
The developers didn't want scenes interchanged easily between commercial and free versions.

Yep, do what Marth said.

Those scn files were saved from version 5.11, so you'll need at least that version or higher.
You could use the XSI Foundation 5.11 Trial to open the scn files, then export the contents to msh with the Pandemic Tools or to a common exchange format that can be imported into other software.

You don't. You already have Mod Tool 7.5 with ZETools for that. Foundation and Mod Tool can coexist, they are two completely different installations. The goal here is to get ForceMaster's released scn files into a usable state, and we already covered that.
