Targa versions?

Post by Jawaraider »

I know how to make skins and load them ingame and everything, but I just made some skins with GIMP 2
and when I munge the log thing says targa 10 is not currently supported. I cannot save it as another kind of tga, and I would prefer not having to install another program and start over again. Does anyone know a solution to this?

When you save a .tga in GIMP, it should ask you if you want RLE compression and the Origin at Bottom Left. Make sure you uncheck both of these options when you save it.

It works now, thanks. But now I found a new problem. When I open some textures they are just gray and white squares. I know it's got something to do with layers, but how do you make everything visible?

To fix this, go to Tools->Color Tools->Levels. In the drop-down menu (Titled: Channel), choose Alpha. Then mess around with the sliders until the skin shows up. If you mess up with the sliders, press cancel. When you go to save your skin, I think you have to put the sliders back or the skin will be shiny (don't quote me on that, I never do that but the skin looked the same as it normally would; it wasn't shiny :? )

I thought you only had to uncheck the RLE compression box, can't you leave the origin one checked?

Yep. The only thing you have to do is uncheck RLE compression.
