Problems with the World name, class names, and menu options.

Post by Little7om »

I am new to modding SWBF2, I've been watching several tutorials and reading the documentation that came with the modding tools. I have installed the vistamungefix(I am running Windows 7), hoping that it would fix this problem. I am having trouble with all of the strings in my world, whether that be the world's name in the instant action menu displaying it's 3-letter name and not it's user-friendly name, or in-game with classes, tips, and anything else described with strings. I have not modified the world in any way other than creating it and then munging it in it's own data folder. I have Conversion Pack 2.2 installed, but uninstalling it earlier didn't seem to help. I'm sure I am missing something simple, but hopefully your suggestions will also help other new modders as well.

Here is a video showing the problems I am having, just figured it would be easier than uploading a ton of screenshots.

Just to be specific on how I used vistamungefix, I've heard different things from different sources, one said to install the mungefix in the main BF2_modtools folder, and another said the base data folder(which I went with). I ran vistamungefix.bat before I used the munge tool to build the world and create the data_VHL folder. I did not run the vistamungefix in the data_VHL before or after I used the munge tool there.

The 3-step "mungefix" instructions are here:

Those "mungefix" files are set up to copy modified bat files to specific places and overwrite the old ones.

I don't think not having the mungefix installed incorrectly is the problem anymore. I am 99% sure I installed mungefix correctly but the strings still aren't displaying the correct text.

Go into your mod's 3 letter folder in the addon directory and ensure it has a core.lvl, if it does, report to us the file size of it. All stock core.lvl files should be the same size, sometimes it has been known to not munge the text files correctly and therefor giving you the issue of displaying crude tech names or null. If it didn't munge right, it would be smaller so let us know the file size.

core.lvl in Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon\VHL\data\_LVL_PC is 252 bytes

Yeah it should be 2.6mb
If you don't know how to "clean" your mod, look that up and perform it, then remunge your mod again and see what happens.

I performed a manual clean and remunged my mod but nothing changed :/
If it helps, this happens to every new map I create and isn't just isolated to this one.
