Question about destroyable objects

Is there a way to make the object's destroyed form have a .odf or is it only a .msh? ie make the destroyed object have some properties instead of just being a model?

To my knowledge, no, although with some simple scripting you could spawn a new object on the death of the original object with pretty much the same results.

how exactly would I be able to do that could someone post the code. also is there a way to do it without spawn nodes because I want both objects to be in the same place.
