Team Fortress 2
I've been looking into getting this game for a while but I wanted to know what you guys thought. I have a few friends who play it like all the time and they've been really wanting me to get it and I actually did get to test it out while I was at their house last week. So is the $20 on Steam worth it or not?

Re: Team Fortress 2
Well, you already know what I think:
By the way, the Engineer Class update is coming soon, this is an opportune time for you to jump in.
A cool thing about TF2, is that Valve is always adding new content to the game through updates. So far we have had many class updates which included new unlockable weapons, new maps, new game modes and, of course, the obligatory list of achievemets. So, even now, three years after the original release, the game is still growing with solid content (for free!).Nihillo wrote:Team Fortress 2 is also a great game, I've been playing it like crazy ever since I got it.

Oh snap. I'll try to keep it short, but I could literally go on for paragraphs about TF2.
I'll start off by saying it's definitely worth the money. $20 for a game that has nearly 2x the amount of content as your standard game, and is probably one of the funner games you'll play. I've personally gotten around 800 hours of gametime logged in it, although my Steam says I have nearly 2000 (Idling and AFK), and although I haven't played that much recently, I suspect I'll come back to it in about a week or two. The fact of the matter is it's rather addicting, has a large amount of replayability, and has a huge community. If you like the art style and the gameplay, then that in itself is likely enough reason to buy it (As several friends' cases were) and the addictness, replayability, and community is simply a bonus.
So, in simplest terms, get it. I will mention, however, that if you don't already have the Half-Life 2 trilogy that the Orange Box is a better deal. If you're at all interested in HL2, then get the Orange Box.

Let it download for a year or so and tell us if you make it to the halfway point.RED51 wrote:I did that the night I got it... not even half way done in the morning... half way to being half way to being half way there...

Re: Team Fortress 2
I have a friend who plays this game, and I must say it is worth the $20. I would probably buy it myself if it didn't lag on my computer.
Huge modding capability (or at least I've heard), tons of achievements, so much replay value... definitely worth the $20.

Re: Team Fortress 2
Sadly, I'm having the same problem... this thing is taking FOREVER to install. I tried leaving it on over night but then my computer suffers from Blue Screens so it must of shut it off when it crashed or one of my younger siblings quit it off without knowing what it was. And again, I don't think I'll be able to play since its taking a long time to install and I have a lot of yard work that needs to get done around the house today. So I think I'll be able to play tomorrow though if I don't get to play later this afternoon.

Re: Team Fortress 2
Note that whatever it said you have to install is likely wrong. The game shipped being about 2.5 GB, which is likely what it initially said when installing, but is now about 5 GB total from updates. Based on your download speed, that will take at least a couple of hours.
As for a match, anyone who's in the GT group can create announcements (As fas as I believe, it might only be admins) so perhaps we can all organize a match that way.

And I think its gonna take even longer cuz the installation keeps on losing connection and I have to reaply it and its only at 15%.

I think its a problem with my internet... I tried turning off my firewall to see if that will solve the issue.Nihillo wrote:That's weird, for me it took like... 3 hours and that was it, no problems, no nothing.
Btw Nihillo, I sent you a friend request on Steam.
EDIT:
Woohoo! I finally got it installed! YES!
