I don't really have to quite the game, because I found out a way that you can add a map while playing the game. Here's how: after adding a new map to your addon folder, and still playing the game, go to the instant action menu and click on any map, then start it, and once its all loaded up hit the escape key and go back to the main menu and your map/mod should be there.

It's worked out for me so far.
