GT-1: DANTOOINE DUST ready for beta testing

Post by MasterTUF »

Couple of weeks ago I expressed my desire to Eddie to learn Zero. I always bugged him to make a remake of famous CS Dust map (which he never did, lol) so I have chosen it as my test map. After about 50% completion he checked it out and decided to make it as one of GT-1 project, thus involving the whole GT-1 team in helping developing the map. So, before GT-1 team finishes its next major project, enjoy this fast paste infantry map located on dusty parts of Dantooine. The map is in 0.77 phase, some more unique objects are planned to be added in 1.0 release and any suggestions/comments you guys might have.

Had fun running around this map but was a bit annoyed when i could not find any stairs to get up on the walls.Only the darktrooper could get up there.......here is a shot of the dark trooper standing on the roof of REBS"B" no one could shhoot at him because noone could get up Image

Found what looked like a way to get on to the wall here but jumped up to fall into a gap.there was what looked like a tunnel as i laydown but could not crawl through ....Image

But i must say i think it is a good scenario, fast and and good fun

:D Man this is just like the greatest map I have ever played! Eddie, Saturn, and all other GT-1 Members this is amazing!

One suggestion, I think that the REB main CP should have a smaller capture sphere because I was able to stand on the top and just capture it.

Great luck on your later maps for SWBF and SWBF2!

awesome map!! but i agree with shrinking /lowering the capturing regions cuz i was capturing a CP on a roof. I think i found a few texturing bugs as well....

yeah, thanx guys for comments, and we are aware of an error capturing B site spawn, It has been fixed as well as some objects/textures on the roof. We are also adding some stairs so regular solders can get on the tops (thx moon)....

what new things does the map feature?

Saturn made wires, telegraph poles and his lego walls were used. Palms and cactuses are done by L5R.
There will be some new buidings in 1.0 release, but the point
of the map is not bringing in new buidings just for a sake of it but to make it nice and clean, so if we need
new objects they are made, if not we do not want to push it and move away from
what the map is supposed to be.

This map is fun and well designed! Are the ODFs and MSHs that you used for the Imperial bases already available to modders or have they not been released yet? I ask because they look like they're really useful for making a base since you guys did a SUPERB job on that part, especially.

ODF/MSHs are combination of Rhen Var and Sat's wall legos, so I would say they are available...

Hey, eddie. I've been playing your maps for months now. Great job, man.
I downloaded Dantooine Dust, and it's also a great map. Although, when being the troopers, the map is pretty easy to beat vs the AI. Being such tight quarters in some of those areas, I was expecting more of a feel like Italia. I'd like to see the AI as good as in that one. It just seems that there aren't many rebels that spawn right away and you can take over with just a few grenades.
Again, thanks for all the great work on the maps. Hours of enjoyment!
