Here's something interesting I just found. Recently Lucasarts dumped 'hundreds' of staff, and one disgruntled ex-employee decided to spill the beans on games they have in the works. Obviously since the guy has just lost his job, this can't be taken as fact, but it's one more reason why a Battlefront III really could come along within the next few years.

Most interestingly, however, is the information they provide on how the layoffs leave the company severely short-staffed as they approach a packed development schedule, one which it appears may be increasingly outsourced. Some of the titles they report Lucasarts apparently have in this stacked pipeline, whether as publisher or developer, include:

- KOTOR 3 (An MMO, and a joint project between Lucasarts and BioWare)
- Battlefront 3
- "The Official Indiana Jones" game (probably this one)
- "another LEGO game based on the Indy universe"
- "a lightsaber game for the wii (sorry, no lightsaber peripherals)"

Two games apparently far enough along to be unaffected by the sackings are The Force Unleashed (which they say has already "passed approval with SCEA and is ready to ship") and Fracture, which they say is described by team members as "an absolute piece of garbage".

KOTOR as an MMO will certainly be interesting. Could be very similar to Star Wars Galaxies. And Fracture is a piece of garbage? Uh oh, that game looked promising. Still, be sure to take all this with a grain of salt.

Interesting, very interesting.

For Fracture they might just still be mad at Lucas Arts and are trying to hurt them, so I'd wait.
KotOR 3 MMO sounds awesome. When Mass Effect was released i heard some people saying it'd use that engine atleast all hte VO parts.
Dang even closer to offical confirmation of BF3. maybe at E3.

I wouldn't know what to expect from a KotOR MMO. Gives me the same feeling as the 1st person Zelda rumor. I think I prefer the "old" style games but how can I tell when it isn't released yet

Interesting read, but http://kotaku.com isn't the most reliable source for anything gaming. On top of that, they're very opinionated, often criticizing games before they even come out.

Hate that site, but it was a nice read nonetheless.

If KotOR 3 is really an MMO I hope that they make a single player mode for us dial-up cursed people.

MMOs never have single-player, hence the name MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online)

I look forward to a KotOR MMO, sounds like a nice concept and if it is developed I will look into it

Dial-up still exists? wow. Anyways yeah i don't want to pay for an MMO so that'd be the only reason why i wouldn't get the KotOR MMO.

Just to add to this, it seems Amazon has posted a confirmation of Battlefront III... for Wii and DS. Yup. It's just a rumour for now, but what's interesting is that Amazon has now taken the pages down. Something to hide, or just a mistake?

I don't own a 360 or PS3, but to be honest I'd prefer to see it on those platforms. Large scale Star Wars battles with beautiful graphics would be a lot more appealing to me than what the Wii would be able to provide. Then again, the Wii version might just be one of those PS3/360 ports that also comes out on PS2 with tacked-on motion controls.

DS and Wii? Maybe it was just a mix-up with the new Clone Wars game. (which is also on those two platforms)

I can understand Wii, but DS? Now come on, the writer had to be either a: lying or b: getting mixed up. And besides, why the heck would they drop PC and Xbox from the list? It sold the most on Xbox and second most on PC, didn't it?

Update: Activision-Blizzard, "distributor of LucasArts products in Australia," filed and recieved a rating for "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" on 2 October, by way of Australia's Classification Review Board.

Looks like a legitimate hint, although it doesn't say much more than that a future version of Battlefront, be it really "3" or some other iteration, is planned to be released on Nintendo DS. Interesting information, anyway.

By all the things I've seen, I think battlefront 3 will be a game in the future. Somewhere I heard it may be an Xbox 360 exclusive due to something about free radical. I'm thinking it will be a star wars mix of CoD4, Halo 3, and Battlefront 2.
