Adding Objects Problem

Post by Quackamolian »

Hello, I am new to StarWars Battlefront 2 Modding and I hope to release great maps eventually once I get passed some pullbacks.

Adding Objects:
I can run ZeroEdit but I cannot add objects. I have tried adding terrains and it has worked, so ZeroEdit is working. I save the finished file to my .wld file correctly (I think). In ZeroEdit, I have put objects like, the Geonosis Turret in and I can see it on ZeroEdit, but not on the running map playing it. I just recently put terrain edits and object edits into ZeroEdit and saved it to the .wld file, I munged it and played it in-game. Once I was in-game I only saw the terrain edits and not the objects that I had added.

1st off, welcome to GT! we all began at your place, we have just learned how do to things. just...watch out for hungry jawas around here... :jawa:

lol before all the seniors jump all over you about this question being asked a million times (which it has) ill be nice and explain it 2 ya :D
okay, first what you wanna do, is go to BF2modtools (in the c drive) and go into the assets folder. now, choose the world where you wanna get objects from, open up that folder, and you will see 5 folders. for an example, if you want the kashyyk platforms, the directory would be BF2_modtools/assets/KAS/msh and .../odf. hold ctrl and copy these 2 folders. (odf and msh). now, go to your world folder, and copy them into the world 1 folder. now that you can actually place them, run ZE, go to objects, and browse into the odf folder you copied earlier into your world 1 folder. now just place those objects! save, and when you munge, have common checked, and you can make the sides nothing. if you still have questions, ask em here, or my xfire is obiboba3po. hope this helps!

Not that we wouldn't. :|

Welcome to Gametoast! I notice you have a good command of both spelling and grammar in the English language, and that's just great! Nothing makes solving problems for people easier then when it's well written out. :)

Anyway, you said you tried adding a Geonosis turret, I assume you tried other things to, but I just thought I'd tell you, that turrets, that are placed as props, won't work, and typically won't even show up. They would need to be placed from the turret side, and the needed turrets then called in the lua, it's not a difficult process, so if you'd like to do that, just say so, and we'll get you going on that.

Also it seems you read some of the "Getting Started" doc, if you have, this is also great, those docs may not be the best on some things, but if you can make it through them, I guarantee you'll learn alot.

Thank you very much for the nice greeting, I have just recently learnt how to add objects (which is great). I found that I was missing the dc command in my lua. Thanks for the nice comments, I love Gametoast.
