Question: Dealing with Collision in Basic Models

Post by Snazzx »

Being a first time poster, I've looked high and low over the tutorials to the answer to this question with no avail.

I'm at the stage where I am making simple test cubes to put in game. I'm using Cinema 4ds, which exports into VRML and then made into a msh using the MSH viewer.

The problem is, when using the models ingame, one or more of the sides does not show up and you can actually walk into the cube and become stuck. Somehow only the back wall (regardless of where you are standing) has collision, and when you step inside you are stuck.

Perhaps the problem is something to do with inverting normals, or basic collision, I'm not quite sure. Is there a way to easily make a collision msh, or something along those lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I'd recommend exporting the model via Softimage. Also take a look at art_guide.doc in the documentation. I'd go further into detail and explain it more thoroughly, but I'm about to see the Muppets 4D show at Disneyland! :o
