X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Post by Teancum »

There was sooooo much that was awesome about this movie I'll only mention my two problems with it:
Hidden/Spoiler:
1-Gambit had the weakest cajun accent I've ever heard. Not weak as in bad-acting, but rather it was barely there. I would've liked more cajun.

2-Deadpool (the one we know) needed more screen time.
Seriously, you MUST go see this if you are any sort of comic/action film fan.

I liked it in the same way I liked Iron Man: I know it's not the best movie of all-time or even this summer, but it was still awesome.
Hidden/Spoiler:
Someone actually shouted out "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZAH" when Cyclops took off the glasses during the escape :P

Oh, and Deadpool was really cool looking at the end, like, Darth Malak cool. I just hope they can bring him back somehow without getting too corny.

Fun movie, but I wanted Wade Wilson as Deadpool, not whatever-poor-amalgam they had at the end and called "Deadpool." Not a gamebreaker, but it's too bad since Deadpool is a fun character.

Oh also the ending was very contrived. I fail to understand why adamantium bullets gave him amnesia when shot in the head (post ad.-skeleton), but normal bullets (pre ad.-skeleton, which could also pierce him) would not. Also X2 heavily implied (if not stated outright) that the experiment itself played the largest part in his amnesia.

I've only seen the first X-Men movie (and that was years ago), but this one looks great. Really want to see it.

It was moderately entertaining but fairly predictable...though as an action movie I guess that's not really what matters the most. I'm not sure it holds up to the other X-Men movies, but it was still pretty good for its genre, which I am typically not a fan of (though I did enjoy the Watchmen & the Dark Knight, and that was quite a surprise). I was for some reason expecting more screentime for gambit and cyclops, I guess because of the trailer, but it makes sense for them to get little since the movie isn't really about them. Still, as action movies go, it was pretty good, so if your an action/super hero movie fan, you'll probably love it. I personally think the super hero genre is getting a little worn out after so many sequels and remakes of the same relative character plots.

Anyone catch some of the captive mutant cameos?
Hidden/Spoiler:
Cyclops (obvious)
Emma Frost (obvious)
Chamber (first captive they show up close)
Toad (licks his lips, also has odd-colored skin)
Quicksilver (contained by four rubber bands)
Storm (supposedly -- though I never saw her)
Beast (same as Storm -- never saw him, just heard about it)

I saw it and thought it was pretty good. Made me want to see the other x-men movies again.
Supposedly, after the credits...
Hidden/Spoiler:
"Depending on which theater the movie was shown in, one of two possible endings then appear following the credits. The first only depicts Weapon XI's hand reaching out from the rubble of the nuclear complex to touch his severed head, whereupon the head comes to life and makes a brief hushing sound before the scene fades to black; breaking the fourth wall like the Deadpool comics. The second alternate scene shows Wolverine drinking at a bar in Japan. The female bartender (believed to be Lady Deathstrike) asks if he is drinking to forget; Wolverine replies that he's drinking to remember." - Wikipedia

Haven't seen the movie yet, but the game is pretty dang good. If you like 3rd person slashers like God of War or Heavenly Sword, you'll love this one.

Saw the first one in the theater, and looked up the second ending online. Both were great post-credit clips.

I really liked this movie! :D I think it's too bad we don't see more from the Team X, and Gambit. Also, epic storyline, really great, makes you recap the whole thing over and over again :P

To Maveritchell: I don't think that is what they were trying to say. I'm probably wrong, but I believe that they (or at least Striker) that the adamantium bullet would just kill him. But it was later that the other woman stated that it wouldnt kill him, so Striker just accepted that and decided to go for it, whether it killed him or not. Also, I don't think that they ever said that normal bullets wouldn't kill him. Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.

To what I thought:

I thought the movie was pretty good. I agree with what Fusion said about it being like Iron Man in a way, but I was still a bit dissapointed with it. I was under the impression that they would have something after the credits, like him in present day or something, and they would find a way to tie him into the Avengers plot. Sadly no. Still a good action movie though.

It wasn't about killing him or not killing him. We know Wolverine could survive normal gunshots to the head - he was in a number of wars as shown in the opening and not only did he survive, but he also faced up against at least one firing squad. The odds of not being hit by a bullet to the head are astronomical and in his case effectively impossible.

Stryker also made a comment (at the end) to the effect that Wolverine wouldn't remember any of this, implying that he knew his magic bullet would give Wolvie amnesia.

Perhaps they just forgot to mention what he coated the bullets with. :P
