How do i remove the campaign movies?

Post by Dakota »

hey is there another way to remove the moves from playing on the campaign other than modding each and every LUA. i modded all the luas awhile ago but i think i deleted the file and world folder while cleaning out stuff. this is for a dedicated server and movies seem to take too long and lag everyone out of the server.

This would be the best way. There aren't many lua files to edit, anyway. And plus, you're just removing a single line or so from each. The only other option that I can think of is if you tell your buddies to delete their .mvs files.

its 2 lines in about 20 or so maps, i did it before and it took like 2 hours O_O

anyway how would the people joining deleting their mvs files stop the server from playing the movie, hmm maybe if i deleted (or moved) the mvs files from the server's folders then it would stop trying to play and so it would load while the people are watching the movie instead of messing up trying to play a movie on a dedicated and causing the map not to load...

BTW, I have the game on steam and it never shows the campaign movies... is there any reason for it? copyright? or was it the 1.3 patch?

neither of those. i can view them fine with 1.3 and if they sell the game on steam they surelyincluded the movies. maybe its a steam thing.

Deleting the movie files from the server is the simplest solutions. The game should act normally with missing videos. If that doesn't work the way you want it to, report back.

Having the v1.3 or not shouldn't matter.

sorry for not responding earlier, i've been working on a mod, i just made my arctrooper and am working on fixing 2 of this 8 weapons (hmm maybe 7 now that i think about it). i also made a bunch of new guns and have been thinking of setting up an assets pack.

Anyway... i'll try deleting (moving to desktop) the movie files and check for any bugs.

EDIT: ok i tried removing the movie files from the server files and it still didn't work. guess i'll have to do some lua coding if there isn't another way.

@ Darth Fannel

there is an option to disable movies via Steam (if you right click on a game a menu comes up with that option) and maybe you did that in the past to get BF2 to work or some other game (you have to do that with KotOR 1)

Well, to word it better, I can see the campaign movies, but only the ones which weremade with the game engine, what I don't see is the movie chunks they put (not that they are relevant, all of them are from Episode III just put into context.)
